Wedding Wednesday - Engagement pics are tomorrow!

Cameron and I had quite the time trying to figure out where we were going to take our engagement pictures. We wanted to go somewhere that wasn't overdone and living in a city that is the #2 wedding destination in the US, it was a challenge. Our biggest no-no was pictures downtown. We get nervous with an audience. (How the heck are we going to get through a ceremony with 300 people staring at us?!?)

At first, we were planning on taking some photos on his parent's dock because hello, we're out there almost every weekend and it's technically where we had our first date!

But I also wanted to go to a second location and just couldn't think of one close enough that would work. So that idea was out.

I was starting to settle for one of the plantations after seeing previous engagement sessions my photographer took that were beautiful, but each place wanted to charge between $150-$250 PLUS admission fees, which I just thought was a little ridic. They weren't totally out of the picture, but they weren't top of the list either.

Finally, I emailed my coordinator asking her if she had any ideas of hidden gems in the area. Turns out, she did! I knew I hired her for a reason. :) I was familiar with her first suggestion, but wasn't completely in love with it, but hadn't heard of her second suggestion, so I Googled it. IMMEDIATELY fell in love. It had everything I was looking for. Marsh, long dirt roads, oak trees, wide open fields. I emailed the owner and she was a little hesitant to let us come out there, saying only people who were actually getting married out there were able to take photos. I did a little begging persistant asking and told her we'd be happy to pay a fee (smaller than the ones listed above) and she said yes! Totally made my day.

So tomorrow, here's where we'll be!
