RHONJ Reunion

My name is Megan, and I am addicted to reality tv.

I cannot wait to go home from work today (45 minutes to be exact) and watch last night's episode of RHONJ Reunion! I've read there is some drama, drama, drama..and of course, Danielle is still a nutcase. From reading other blogs, Teresa seems to act just as crazy, if not crazier though.

That's all for now.

Woohoo! Five Question FRIDAY!

SO happy it's Friday! This week has drug by, which means the weekend will most likely fly by.

Last night, the BFF, Biz and I met up for some delicious sushi and drinks at J.Paul'z . Em and I split the Surf & Turf Roll (Shrimp, cream cheese and green onion, topped with beef tataki, toasted sesame seeds and a sweet chili sauce) and the Crunch Lady Roll (Tuna, cream cheese, avocado and tempura flake, topped with a spicy crab salad, scallions, eel sauce and spicy chili aioli). Soooooo good. If you live in/near Charleston and haven't ever been to J.Paul'z, go! Perfect for date nights and they have ladies night on Wednesday's with drink specials and one of Charleston's favorite bands, Plane Jane.

Tonight, Cameron and I are going to celebrate Frankie's birthday a day early at Social! Frankie dates Cameron's roommate, Scott, so I have gotten to know her very well over the past year and a half! She moved to North Carolina a few months ago after accepting a job as a cardiovascular perfusionist! Uhhhh...did I mention she's only turning 23? She is one hardworking and determined girl!
Frankie helping me celebrate my Bday!
Representing for the Gamecocks!

Tomorrow is another night of celebrations! We'll be going to a shower for our friends Stephanie & William who are tying the knot in October! That wedding will put the end to our 15 weddings in 2010! Hallelujah! Should be a good time!
Me & Stephanie at one of our favorite spots - Trioooo
One of the best Summers ever!
And now....for the questions...

1. How many pets do you have?

One. As much as I want more, he is plenty. My almost 5 year old golden retriever / lab mix, Brady. That's my angel on my sidebar :)
He is the sweetest boy, who provides for many hours of comic relief, and I couldn't imagine my life without him!

2. If you could switch places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be?

Any hot female celebrity so I could experience what it would be like to get my hair and makeup done, have the paparazzi follow me around, go to a photoshoot, fly across the country at the drop of a hat, wear the best clothes, etc.

Then, I would be totally happy going back to my normal life.

3. What is your favorite money saving tip?

Coupons, coupons, coupons. Love going to Harris Teeter where they already double coupons up to $.99 and when they double or triple those coupons, you'll know where to find me. I love seeing on the bottom of the receipt that I saved $20-$30 in one visit!

I have no other tips because I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been the smartest with my money. But I'm learning!

4. What do you want your kids to be when they grow up?

Happy. Isn't that the obvious answer? It's true though and I'm sure every future parent / current parent will say the same.

5. What is your favorite quote?

I've always loved this Dr. Seuss quote because it's SO true:

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I get embarrassed really easily (see picture below) so I often have to remind myself that I shouldn't care what other people think.
This red of a face from embarrassment CAN'T be normal!

Well, that's about it for now! Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!!

It's Here! "Come Back Song" video!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Darius Rucker taped his new video for "Come Back Song" in his/my hometown of Charleston! He definitely has not forgotten where he came from! A shrimp boat, the bridge, cobblestone, palm trees and more show off our beautiful city! Hope you enjoy!

Whole Bunch of Randomness

I did not get to get my Monday post in yesterday due to the Internet being down at work all day yesterday. Yes, I blog at work. I don't have enough work to last me a whole entire day but when an email or a phone call do pop up, I handle them right away.

First thing's first - I finally got my Lilly Pulitzer planner! I got the small size in "Checking In" because honestly, I have enough junk in my purse that if I got the large one, it would totally take over. The BFF works part-time at a cute gift shop that sells Lilly items so I got it at cost! Holler!!

Love it!

I also picked up (at cost, might I add) a Scout lunch box (because apparently I'm in 3rd grade) and a small Scout bag to use as my new make-up bag! Got both bags in Petallica Green because the roomie has the lunch box in Cool Brite Paisley, which I originally had my eye on. They are more lime green in person.  I love the Scout bags because they clean up super easy and are perfect to take on the boat or to the beach!

Saturday night I had a wedding for work and encountered my very first GROOMZILLA! I originally knew this would be a "different" wedding after I realized I hadn't spoken to the bride once. It was alllll the groom that was planning the wedding. Odd. Now, my job title is the "Event Facility Coordinator," which basically means I facilitate the building..make sure all of the doors are unlocked, make sure my staff has set up the tables and chairs according to the layout, make sure the caterer knows where everything is and how it works in the kitchen and then check all of the vendors out at the end of the night and lock up the building. That's pretty much it. I am NOT the event planner! As much as I would enjoy doing this for the out of town couples that we most of the time see here, I do not get paid to do that. Then again, I'm not just going to kick up my heels on my desk and watch the wedding crash and burn, so a lot of the time I'm stuck coordinating the ceremony and reception..making sure everyone is lined up correctly, walking down the aisle at the correct time, etc.

Ok, now that I'm done with my rant, I will explain my reason for naming this groom a GROOMZILLA

-He would call ME if a vendor didn't return his phone call after like an hour. Dude, I have nothing to do with that! I'm sure they're just busy!

-I was stuck setting up ceremony chairs on the beach, 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. Keep in mind, I'm wearing pants and the heat index is probably close to 100 degrees.

-The bride and groom TALKED to each other during the WHOLE CEREMONY. Who does that??!?!

-Like I mentioned above, I got stuck coordinating the ceremony because they had absolutely no idea what was going on.

-During the Father / Daughter dance, apparently GROOMZILLA busts in the kitchen and yells at the caterer because he doesn't know where him and his bride are sitting. That's because you had a seated dinner and UNDER RSVP'd. More people showed up that he confirmed with the caterer. Of course the caterer handled it.

-Freaks out because the lights weren't dim enough to his liking. I get it, I like dim lights, too, but there is no need to freak out. All you have to do is ask politely with a smile on your face and I will take care of it. Mmk, Pumkin? :)

-No tip. Of course I NEVER expect a tip, because I usually don't do anything to deserve a tip. But he SAW me out on the beach setting up those chairs by myself, among other things. A little something would have made me feel appreciated.

I'm sure there is more, but my rant has gotten long enough and I'm sure your eyes are crossed by now if you are even still reading it. :)

Sunday, the BFF and I went to our friends' Lauren & Jake's housewarming party. They recently bought a SUPER cute house in the Old Village part of Mt. Pleasant. A mixture of their friends and family of all ages were there and it was catered with some deeeelicious food. Always a plus.  We thought it would be the perfect time for Jake to propose since all of his friends and family were in town for the party, but Jake must have not been on the same page as us. I left my camera in the car, so sadly, there are no pictures. :(

Groovy Little Summer Song

As I sit here on the couch, catching up on my Top Chef episodes, I can't get "Groovy Little Summer Song" by James Otto out of my head. I know everyone, myself included, is excited about Fall coming up, but here in South Carolina, it's not getting cooler anytime soon. So here is a feel-good song that will keep you enjoying Summer just a little while longer...

When the days start gettin' warmer
And the sun starts sinkin' slower
Weekends go by faster and beer starts tasting colder
Wanna tune into a station that takes me on a soul vacation
Hey there mister DJ, come on wont you please play

One that we can dance to
Start up a romance to
Make it pretty simple so we all can sing along
While cruisin' with the top down, crank it up real loud
A groovy little summer song (Yeah)

Make me feel the rhythm of warm tropical islands
Take me to a beach somewhere where everyone is smilin'
Sippin' margartias and eyein' senoritas
I can almost see 'em swayin' once ya start playin'

One that we can dance to
Start up a romance to
Make it pretty simple so we all can sing along
While cruisin' with the top down, crank it up real loud
A groovy little summer song (Yeah)

(Play that guitar now, come on)

Play something sexy to make her fall in love with me
Won't you please---
play One that we can dance to
Start up a romance to
Make it pretty simple so we all can sing along
While cruisin' with the top down, crank it up real loud
A groovy little summer song (Yeah)

Play one that we can dance to
Start up a romance to
Make it pretty simple so we all can sing along
While cruisin' with the top down, crank it up real loud
A groovy little summer song (Yeah)

My groovy little summer song (mmm)

Five Question Friday & a Yummy (Easy) Recipe

1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?

Of course I've had a few over the years from family and friends, but the one that has stuck the longest is Schmeg. Pretty much all of my sorority sisters call me this nickname and was given to me by one of them. It's not the prettiest of nicknames...it's disgustingly gross, actually. Don't Google it if you have a weak stomach.

2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?

I am the oldest by 3 1/2 years. I have a younger sister named Stephanie who I have grown to tolerate love :) haha jk Stephanie!

Easter prom pose

3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?

Cameron, of course! Ok, but seriously. Even he knows the answer to this question! Matthew McConaughey. Enough said.

4. What is currently your favorite song?

Of course the standards that make me happy from the last Five Question Friday post, but I really like "Gimme That Girl" by Joe Nichols and "Come Back Song" by Darius right now.

5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?

My main goal right now is to pay off those pesky credit card bills. I've been very ignorant when it comes them and never thought they would catch up with me as much as they have. It sure has taught me a lesson though!

Last night, I tried out a recipe from my friend, Christina's blog. If you like healthy food or just food in general, with a side of comic relief, take a look at Hungry Meets Healthy! I asked her for advice on what I should cook last night and she sent me the link for Greek Chicken and Potatoes.  It was deeeeeelicious! I substituted very thinly sliced cucumbers for the spinach and used about half of the amount of grated cucumbers in the tzatziki sauce. We will definitely be making this again!

Have a great weekend!!

Oh you fancy, huh?

"Hair done, nails done, errything did, oh you fancy, huh? Oh you fancy, huh?"

Has anyone heard this ridiculous new rap song yet? As stupid as the song is, watch out, it WILL get stuck in your head.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours getting my hair did. Longest hair appointment ever but my color was so out of whack, that it needed to take thing long. Also got a cute little hair cut :)

Anyway, the last hour of my appointment, I pretty much thought about the tip the whole time. It's the same cycle in my head with every appointment. How much do I tip? Do I do the standard 20%?? I don't want to tip tooo much, because then they would expect that every time. But then again, of course I want to make sure I tip them enough! I really really liked the new girl that I tried out. I tipped her $25 on a $105 bill. But then again, I DID get a free haircut. Is that good....or cheap?

What is yall's protocol on tipping for hair appointments?

Rent the Runway

I'm probably a little late on this whole phenomenon, but thanks to Amanda at My Switch to Scrubs, I may have a new dangerous obsession on my hands.

RTR is a company founded by two former Harvard students who had the same dilemma as most of my friends and I do. Even though we have a closet full of dresses, we want a new, special (and most likely, pricey) dress for the upcoming wedding or date. RTR allows you to rent a designer dress for a 4 day time period for about 75-90% off the original price of the dress! I personally have a few dresses that I paid a pretty penny for and have only worn once or twice.

Here are a few items that I've already added to my Favorites..

Tibi Calla Lily Cap Sleeve Dress
Rent for $35!! Retails for $378
Tibi Abstract Flower Dress
Rent for $50, Retails for $425

Mark & James by Badgley Mischka Grecian Escape Dress
Rent for $35, Retails for $360

Mark & James by Badgley Mischka Cotton Puff Sleeve Dress
Rent for $30, Retails for $380

The $30 - $35 dresses will wind up renting for around $50 after insurance and shipping, but hey, that still beats buying it at $300 - $400!

Thanks for the post, Amanda!

Oh, and Emily, don't let David know I was the one that told you about this...kthanks!

Sweet Little Baby Girl

As you know, Friday night I saw Will Hoge at the Windjammer. Since *someone* backed out of going last minute, I persuaded Cameron to go with me. He's not a fan of hot sweaty crowds, so I had to pay for his ticket and drinks in order for him to go. It was worth it! I think Cameron wound up having a good time, even when I acted like a school girl once I got up to the front of the line to talk to Will. Yes, we're on a first name basis now. :)

School girl conversation:

Me - Hey, I'm Megan! Can we take a pic??

Will - Sure! Have I met you before?

Me - YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture Taken.

Will - Are yall coming out tomorrow night?

Me - No, going to a benefit concert at the Music Farm. You should come afterwards!

Cameron - Uhh, Megan, I'm pretty sure he'll be busy.

Me - Well, I know, but if you're staying downtown you could come by after the show! Where are you staying? I mean, I'm not going to stalk you or anything!

And that's when I realized I should probably stop talking. Then he remembered Cameron's name and not mine so I had to call him out. His response, "Megan and Cameron..like peanut butter and jelly!"

Ok, I'm done boring yall now. Here are some pics from Friday night.
Biz!
He was a good sport :)
I'm short.

Saturday was the Concert for Chase, which was a lot of fun and had a really good turnout! A ton of people donated their time and money to make sure the Towne family had help with their growing medical bills.

Sunday we did not wake up until 1:15pm!!! Talk about lazy and tired! It was certainly needed though. Went to Ava's birthday party for about two hours then came back to the house and layed on the couch for the rest of the evening.
