Darius rocks Gillon Street!

Our beloved Charlestonian, Darius Rucker, was spotted yesterday filming on Gillon St (off of East Bay) for his new video "Come Back Song." This is the first single to be released from his new album (called "Charleston, SC 1966") coming out October 12th and it's really catchy!

I have been a long time fan of Darius ever since he was the lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish.

Fun Fact:  In 5th grade when Hootie was HUGE, my parents took me to their concert for my birthday at the Gaillard Auditorium. My mom wrote a note to Darius on a piece of paper shaped like a dolphin (he's a big Miami Dolphins fan) asking if he would sing "Happy Birthday" to me and handed it to the bouncer. We figured the bouncer would just shove the piece of paper in his pocket and not give it another thought. Well, half way through the concert he sang "Happy Birthday" to me! I would be so excited if he did this today so I can only imagine how happy I was when I was 11!

Here are some pics from last Summer when Darius played on Daniel Island (also the night that David and Emily got engaged):

Lilly Giveaway!

I have been eyeing these planners for a while now so I'm super excited to enter Sunshine & Summertime's giveaway today! It would be perfect to put my ever-changing work schedule, appointments, football games and bill due dates (eww) in.

These new iPhone cases are convincing me even more that I want need an iPhone if Verizon ever comes out with one (I've heard rumors that this may be happening next year!). How cute are they?!? I know the BFF, Emily, would be first in line to get one.

Today is another quiet day here at work, which means another day of salivating over recipes that I want to try and online window shopping. Looking forward to Supper Club tonight with Emily, David, Michaele, Chad, Caroline & Andy! Definitely need to come up with a cooler name than Supper Club though...any ideas?

Weekend Review

I am still exhausted from this weekend. Being in the sun for 8 hours on Saturday + Drinking the majority of those 8 hours = a very lazy and nap filled Sunday.
Friday after work, Cameron & I ate stuffed our faces at Outback and then went to California Dreaming to enjoy $2 vodka's with Frankie & Scott. We made it an early night because we knew the next day on the boat was going to be a long one.

Saturday we were on the boat by noon, with fried chicken and beer on board, and headed out to Morris Island for Aquapalooza. My only complaint is that the speakers weren't loud enough for the bands. We attempted to listen to the first band, Soul Fish (one of my faves), but since it was hard to hear them, the other boats around us just turned their crappy rap music up even louder. Oh well..

Sunday, I'm kind of embarrassed to say, I layed around the house and dozed off and on until about 2:30pm. Hey, weekends are for relaxing right? I feel like I'm always on the go on the weekends when I should be relaxing. Once Cameron finished watching his movie and I finally decided to get up off the couch, we headed out to his parents house on Johns Island. His brother, sister-in-law and two nieces were also out there so we played in the pool with them until it was time for dinner. I always love eating over there because everything they cook is SO GOOD.

And now, it is Monday again. They always come too fast. Atleast it's half way over and tomorrow I have supper club to look forward to. Emily & David also get home tonight from their honeymoon!

Bird is the Word

Since Sunday I've been dog sitting my friends Caroline & Andy's dog, Birdie, while they are enjoying Edisto Beach with their family. Cute story - They named her Birdie because they got her Masters weekend! :)

One of the rare moments when Birdie was actually laying down

She's a goldendoodle, which I've pretty much been obsessed with for quite some time now. BUT, I feel like a grandmother. Birdie, as you can see, is super cute and cuddly, much like a grandchild I assume would be. But after about 10 minutes of her constantly jumping on me and not listening, I was ready for Andy & Caroline to come home. Visions of waking up at 5am to take Brady, then a small pup, down 3 flights of stairs of my apartment building in college came flashing back and I was reminded that having a 5 year old dog, is not a bad thing at all.

This weekend I have no events going on at work, which means I'm off until Monday! HOLLER!! I wanted to go offshore with Cameron on Saturday but the weather is not cooperating so I think I've convinced him to take his boat to Aquapalooza! He, nor I, do not usually like to go out to Morris when we know there will be a humongous crowd of drunken idiots who don't know how to properly maneuver their boats, but the combination of live music, friends and sunshine will hopefully make the trip worthwhile. No plans other than that!

What are your plans for the weekend??

The Final Countdown!

The next time you hear from me, my best friend will be a married woman! SO weird, but SO happy for her. I wish could remember every single one of the fun times we had together, but I'm sure alcohol has to do something with my fuzzy memory.

Emily and I became friends our freshman year of college when we pledged the same sorority, Chi Omega. The next four years were full of mixers, road trips, tailgates, concerts, boys, and picking up the pieces for each other once our hearts broken by those boys. Now that we've graduated college, not much has changed..except that we're not attending mixers anymore and we get excited about buying furniture, gardening and other "grown up" activities.

The first time I "met" David was actually the day before Emily met him! I was on a friend's boat on July 4th two years ago and towards the end of the day, after many adult beverages had been consumed, there was this CRAZY guy dancing all by himself on the front of the boat. I laughed at him and didn't think much more about it.

The next day, a big group of us went to Folly beach for the day and went downtown that night. While we were at our typical hangout, Brick, I spotted Emily talking to a guy while she was waiting on a drink. I suddenly realized it was CRAZY BOAT DANCING GUY! I assumed she needed to be saved so I went over and tried to interfere. Come to find out, she was actually enjoying talking to CBDG, so I left the two of them alone. The following day, they went on a lunch date to Dog & Duck and the rest is history..I would also like to add that David claims that he saw Emily at Brick two weeks prior to them meeting and said he saw her checking him out.

"A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences."

Holy crap, I think I just wrote my MOH speech!

Now, of course, time for a few pictures:

Right after David & Emily got engaged..at the lot where they built their first home.
