Writing from my comfy couch with a cup of hot coffee right next to me, waiting on the (when is it ever going to end) rain to begin. This is my last day of my 4 day weekend, and my, has it been nice!
Here's what I was up to this weekend...
On Friday, Emily, Lane, and I drove to Bluffton to to celebrate Greyson's 1st birthday! His party wasn't until Saturday, but since I couldn't make it, I still wanted to spend time with him and his parents!
After we got the boys a snack and waited for the rain to stop, we rode around the neighborhood on the golf cart, just catching up and admiring all of the beautiful homes.
We kept it low key that night, just ordering some Mellow Mushroom, drinking some red wine, and watching some tv. The next morning, everyone woke up bright and early, Kelly Anne made some delicious cinnamon rolls, we drank some coffee, and played with the babes. I took off kind of early to head back to Charleston, but not before snapping a couple of pics of the party decor.

Once I got back to Charleston, Cameron and I grabbed lunch at Sesame (their Southwestern salad is so good!), and went to Belk to look for some shorts for him. While we were walking to Belk, there was a little fashion show going on in the middle of the mall. Cameron said, "that looks like Marin! (our niece)" It was! She, and her sister Kaylin, were there doing a little modeling, thanks to her big sister signing her up behind her back. Sounds like something I would do to my sister. :) They were so cute in their outfits and it was such a nice surprise to run into them, as well as my sister in law, Kara! We had just previously run into Cameron's cousin, Courtney, as Sesame, too!
That evening, we went to the Hootie & the Blowfish concert on Daniel Island. They don't really play together anymore, except for this Homegrown concert, which is the 8th annual. This concert also encourages concert goers to donate school supplies that will go to multiple Charleston County schools, which is awesome! We got hooked up again this year with VIP passes (thanks, Ford!), which let us go backstage, drink free booze, and enjoy amazing seats.

(And he did a lot of trash talking during in between songs, which I thought was funny)
This song ("Hey Hey What Can I Do"), which was on their Scattered, Smothered, and Covered cover cd and is a Led Zeppelin cover, is always one of my favorites that they perform. It's a guaranteed hip shaker for Darius, which is always nice for the ladies.
Edwin McCain was one of the openers, along with Drivin' and Cryin', and Edwin joined the band during the encore to sing Solitude. Another favorite.
Hope everyone stays safe out there with all of the rain and high tides! Especially those downtown Charleston and Greenville!

If you live under a rock, or maybe just don't listen to country music or early 90's rock, that my friends is Darius Rucker!
One of Cameron's brother's friends is Darius' right hand man on tour and hooked us up to go to watch the Hootie and the Blowfish sound check last Thursday night (afterwards, we hung out on his tour bus, but sadly Darius had gone home) and got us VIP passes for the show on Saturday night! Talk about the best weekend ever!!
I would like to start by saying that the thing I'm loving the most today is the fact that I'm writing this post from my couch. Ahhh I love event days when I get to lounge around in the mornings and don't have to be to work until late afternoon.

Last Friday, Cameron and I had a lunch date at Olympik and then got our passport pictures taken at CVS. I thought they turned out pretty well! We go next Thursday to actually apply for the passports. Didn't realize how expensive they were! Yuck.

I'm loving that the Fall CSA has started...but I wasn't impressed at all with the first weeks veggies.Especially when comparing to Christina's. I'm thinking next year we're going to switch farms.

I'm LOVING that I FINALLY got an email from Hana asking if I'd like to review one of their straighteners. Um, a free straightener?? Yes please! I received the package in the mail this week and I can't wait to try it out later today!
And finally, I'm loving all of the excitement and anticipation regarding the #6 South Carolina vs. #5 Georgia game this weekend! It is going to be an exciting game and while I will not be there, I will be cheering extra loud from Kiawah! ESPN'S Gameday will be in Columbia which will add even more excitement! GO COCKS!!
This weekend was a blast..and I paid for it on Sunday.
Saturday I woke up bright and early, made a quick trip to the grocery store while Cameron went into work for a few hours (his big project is finally done and I'm so proud of him!), then we went to the Kickin' Chicken in West Ashley to watch our games, which were on at the same time. Had lots of fun with Emily&David, Kate&Grant and Lindsay!
After our games were over (both victories), we hurried home to freshen up. What I really wanted to do was take a nap, but I knew I would be down for the count if I did. Met back up with everyone at a Mexican restaurant across from the coliseum and indulged in quite a few margarita's.
After that, it was to the coliseum we went to see Thompson Square, Justin Moore and Darius!
Sunday. Ouch. I layed in bed until as late as I possibly could. I had made plans for my Grandma to come over to measure my windows because she is making me some window treatments as part of my Christmas gift. I was smart and told her to come over after lunchtime because I knew I'd probably be hurting from the concert. And I was right.I made her this pumpkin pie as a thank you.
Cameron cleaned out the garage on Sunday and I would have taken before and after pics. What a difference!
Speaking of Cameron, he bought and installed a new hood over our stove last weekend and installed a subway tile backsplash! The man is handy and I love it.

Speaking of kitchens and cooking and pumpkin pies, I was in a baking mood last night and attempted to make this No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake. Everything was going great - I licked the bowl and it tasted so good - plopped it into the pie crust..and then realized I accidentally bought a regular pie crust and not a graham cracker pie crust. AND I forgot to bake the crust before I put the mixture in it. Ugh. So instead of a pumpkin cheesecake, Cameron had basically pumpkin mousse for dessert.

Although I have to work until 8 tonight, I'm still super pumped it's Friday! There is a fun filled weekend ahead of me.
But first, I had the pleasure of meeting and having dinner with fellow blogger, Ashley from Turquoise and Teale last night! She is as sweet and cute in person as she seems on her blog. :) My friend, Kate, also joined us! As sad as it is, I hadn't seen her since her wedding day (March 2010) so it was great to catch up with her, as well! She was a little apprehensive about the whole meeting a stranger thing, but now I'm pretty sure she wants to start her own blog!
We split the appetizer trio (salsa, queso and guacamole) and I ordered the Baja Fish Taco (tempura fried mahi mahi, thinly sliced red cabbage subbed lettuce, cilantro and ancho chili yogurt sauce) and a Tempura Avocado Taco (tempura avocado, topped with a sweet Thai chili glaze, and a citrus slaw). One dollar from each tempura avocado taco ordered is donated to the Green Heart Project, which "pairs volunteers from the Charleston area with disadvantaged youth in effort to teach the knowledge and values needed for a sustainable future and instill the virtues of hard work and success through building an urban garden."Pretty cool!
Tomorrow both the Carolina and Clemson games are on at 12 noon so we'll most likely be at a bar with multiple tv's, enjoying some frosty beverages, and rooting Carolina on to a victory over Florida! Cameron and I met after the Carolina / Florida game 3 years ago - all together now: awwwwwwwwwwww. :)
After the game, we'll go home, freshen up and make our way to dinner and drinks before the Darius concert! I.AM.SO.PUMPED. Darius is one of my favorite people to see live. I need to remember to charge my camera tonight so I can take plenty during the concert!
Happy Veteran's Day and 11.11.11! My Grandaddy Smitty is an Air Force veteran and fought in the Korean war. Cameron's grandfather is a Navy veteran and a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor.Thankful for both of them!
This weekend I finally get to do something fun! After painting tonight and working tomorrow night, Sunday I'm heading to the South Carolina State Fair in Columbia to see Darius! We're on a first name basis, just like Will. We'll leave Charleston around lunch time so we can get up to Columbia in time to enjoy all of the yummy fair food..and maybe a little tailgating.
Fellow concert-go'ers..Emily, Caroline, Michaele, Me..we'll miss you Katie! We'll be meeting up with Frankie once we get there!
1. Who is the better cook, you or your spouse?
Hmmmmm...I'd say we're tied. We're surely not experts in the kitchen, but we can follow a recipe pretty well.
2. How often do you talk to your mom?
Twice a week, if not more. I call her for everything from cooking advice to gossiping.
3. Are you adventurous in the kitchen or stick to the recipe?
Eh, I hardly ever stick to the recipe either because I'm out of an ingredient and don't feel like going to the store, or don't feel like measuring things to a T. I wouldn't call it adventurous though, I'd just call it lazy. Cameron is the one who is most likely to stick to the recipe exactly.
4. Is your second toe longer than your big toe?
Yes? I have no idea and really don't feel like taking my Wallabees and socks off (Friday = dress down day = my favorite!)
5. Do you dress up for Halloween? (Bonus question: What will you be this year?)
I definitely have in the past, but I'm not going to this year. Confession - I wore the same costume 2 years in a row. Katie and I both did. We weren't planning on going out for Halloween last year but were convinced at the very last minute to go to a house party and even made it to Trio! It turned out to be a lot of fun! This year I'll be at the Carolina / Tennessee game and I'd rather be wearing a cute outfit to my first football game of the year, than a Halloween costume.
