Five Question Friday

Yes, it's Friday the 13th but I'm not going to let that get in my way of having a good day! A very fun night and weekend to look forward to!

I had the day off yesterday so I went for my annual doctor checkup (everything's good!), stopped by my Dad's work to say hello, stopped by Michael's to get supplies for Ava's birthday present and ate lunch with Cameron and his grandmother at Olympik Deli. If you live in the Charleston area and like Greek food - EAT.AT.OLYMPIK.  They have THE best Greek salad I have ever eaten...and I try them everywhere I go.

As I mentioned in Tuesday's post, Sunday is Ava's 1st birthday party. I spent the remainder of my day off after lunch painting her birthday present for her room. I made sure the colors match her room - hope she likes it!

1. Have you ever visited another country?

Only from a cruise ship. Bahamas, Cozumel, & Grand Cayman. Went on the Big Red Boat cruise in 5th grade to the Bahamas with my mom's side of the family.  A cruise full of Disney characters and getting my hair braided. Sweeet!

Then my senior year of college, a group of about 30 sorority sisters went on the Norwegian Majesty, which we respectfully renamed the "Trailer Park of the Seas." It was a damn good time though!
Surrender the booty!
Grand Cayman
2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?

Oh gosh, I have no idea!  Possibly the hippie van in Athens, GA with a group of guys we did not know AT ALL. We needed a ride downtown and we were just asking anyone we came in contact with. Definitely not the safest idea we had.

Similar to this one:

Probably not the weirdest place I've been in my life, but that's all I can come up with right now..

3. What is your favorite season?

Spring! Not too hot, not too cold, juuuuuust right. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

4. What one song will always cheer you up?

"July Moon" - Will Hoge
"Mustang Sally"...my Dad and I call / text each other everytime we hear it :)
"Ain't Too Proud to Beg"
"At the Beach" - Avett Brothers
"You are the Best Thing" - Ray Lamontagne
"Washed by the Water" - Needtobreathe

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?

Ahh, probably none! If I could choose to look like one though, it would be Pocahontas - she's hot.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Exciting weekend up ahead!

Ok, I know it's only Tuesday but this weekend is going to be a fun one!

[ Friday Night ]

WILL HOGE. Ummm only my favorite singer! I believe this will be my 6th time seeing him. Can't really remember. This show will be at the Windjammer and last time I saw him there, I knew the sound guy so I got to watch the show from the VIP area / Green Room! Anyone else from Charleston going??
My view
pretty happy at this point.

[ Saturday Night ]

Second Annual Concert for Chase.

From the invite on Facebook -

"You are cordially invited to come out and enjoy the best live local music in the Carolinas, while supporting an excellent cause. A Concert for Chase II will feature The Occasional Milkshake ( Mark Bryan of Hootie & the Blowfish, Hank Futch of the Blue Dogs, and Gary Greene of Cravin' Melon) w/ The Otis Campbell Band, and Not So Serious, as well as some very special guests! All proceeds from the event will be going to the Chase Towne Fund / Neuroblastoma Research.

Chase Towne is the 23-month-old son of Charleston locals Chuck and Christine Towne. On April 20th, 2009, Chase was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. He has completed 14 months of surgeries, chemotherapy and hospitalizations including bone marrow retrievals and countless clinic visits at MUSC Childrens’ Hospital. He continues to go for monthly clinic visits and scans. If you would like to learn more about this beautiful little boy and his brave fight against cancer, then visit his website at http://www.carepages.com/carepages/CHASETOWNE."

The Towne's go to Cameron's parent's church and run the local hardware store on Johns Island. Super nice people (even if they are Clemson fans....). Last year was really fun (too much fun for a Sunday) and Darius made a surprise appearance! Hoping that will happen again on Saturday.

[ Sunday ]

Ava's 1st birthday party! Ava is my cousin's daughter and she is the cutest thing! Ava was born in California while Sam's husband was stationed out there. We didn't get to meet Ava until she was about 4 months old!
Holding Ava for the first time. Please excuse the Christmas-morning-just-rolled-out-of-bed-look.
And [ TONIGHT ] is Supper Club aboard the Major Motion! I feel bad because everyone has cooked gourmet meals and I just went to Costco. But hey, that's about all I can handle for a boat ride.

Sandbar Sunday

Yesterday was a standard Sunday - we hopped looked for the key to the boat lift for about an hour, only to find out that it was on the boat. Once we finally found the key, we loaded up and drove the short distance to the good ol' sandbar.

I wasn't expecting a big turn out of fellow boaters, assuming everyone would be hungover from the Rockville Regatta on Saturday, but there was actually a good crowd! Cameron's friend, Justin, had a boat full of of people and the BFF met us out there, too! Jason's boat ran out of gas so we had to tow him back to the dock..didn't make it home until around 10pm, which means getting out of bed this morning was NOT easy.

Blog HELP!

I'm in dire need of some blog help! I see all of these tutorials and stuff on how to make your blog super cute, but I still can't figure anything out! First thing's first - my blog title. I don't necessarily have to have a picture of anything - I just want it to look better than it does now, which shouldn't be very hard! So, if anyone is super bored and wants a new project, or you just really want to help me out, I would be SO grateful! You can email me at megangmail.com

Five Question Friday

I'm not feeling very creative about my post today due to going to sleep past my bed time last night. Cameron & I went out for a friend's birthday last night for a "couple" of drinks. Well, you know how that goes. A "couple" turned into 3 beers at one bar then relocating to another bar where they had $2.50 vodka's. 3 or 4 of those later, we finally left around midnight.

1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper?

Definitely messy. If I'm sleeping by myself, I'll wake up in the middle of the night laying diagonal across my bed.

I do have to have covers over my feet when I'm falling asleep but usually kick them off in the middle of the night.

2. Fill in the blank. I wish I was more ________________.

Motivated.
Motivated to go to the gym more than once or twice a week.

Motivated to save more money.

Motivated to hang/fold my clothes right when they come out of the dryer.

Motivated to wash Brady after work today.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?

I feel like every answer that immediately comes to my head (saving money, credit cards, keeping my car clean, etc) I actually WAS warned about - I just decided not to listen. I'm very stubborn like that and for some reason think I'm invisible with most things. Quickly realizing that is not the case.

4. What was the best thing you ever found at a garage sale/flea market?

I actually haven't been to any since I was young, but I want to start going! A high school friend, Ebonn, seems to go to quite a few and she is always posting about her great finds. Once Cameron gets his house (soon, hopefully!) I think we'll definitely be hitting up some garage sales.

5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be?

Oh gosh, I have no idea. Usually I could list a million things but I just ate lunch so I'm full. Let's see..if I had an empty stomach and calories didn't count..

Guacamole from Taco Boy

Fried Pickles (duh.) from pretty much anywhere

Blue Cheese Chopped Salad from Outback

Truffle Mac n Cheese from JPaulz

Filet from Oak Steakhouse

Red Velvet Cake from Kaminsky's

Ok, I'm done being a fatty now.  Only 1.5 more hours left at work today and it's the WEEKEND! Wait, I have to work a wedding tomorrow but atleast I don't have to be here until 2:30pm so I can go out and play tonight if I want to. My view from work doesn't exactly suck though...

Hope everyone has a good weekend! :)

The road to 27 dresses..

Saturday as I was leaving the grocery store, I got a very exciting text from my good friend, Jenny, saying "I'm ENGAGED!!!!" I was beyond excited because Jenny and Dan have been dating since our freshman year of college - that's 8 years!! Jenny and I have also been friends since freshman year of college, when we pledged the same sorority. She was from out of state and didn't have a car at school so I'd pick her up for football games in my POS car..good times, good times.

Now for the story: Jenny was at their house when Dan came home with a bunch of new toys and treats for Presley (their "son"). She didn't think much of it, as this dog is very spoiled. She was either about to get in the shower or had just gotten out of the shower (can't remember) when she noticed Presley had a new collar on. When she called Presley to get an up-close look, this is what she saw...
Yes, the date is one day off, but that's not the point! Jenny walked down stairs and Dan was on one knee. Isn't that such a cute story?!?! I can't wait to be a part of their big day next year!
The happy couple
Most likely the Best Man or Ring Bearer haha

And now..a trip down memory lane and my road to 27 Dresses...

Uncle Daryl & Aunt Cheryl (no pic..pre-digital camera days) June 2000

Leslie & Tyler - May 2008
Becca & Ryan - May 2009
Alyssa & Chris - April 2010
Emily & David - July 2010
And I will add 2 more bridesmaid dresses to my closet in 2011! Katie & Henry in May, Jenny & Dan most likely in August.

Is this normal for my age?? How many weddings have you been in?
