A Few Tidbits About Me.

One of my favorite bloggers, and good friend, Shelby from Recent Somethings, tagged me in a get to know me post, so here are my answers! Feel free to join along!

FAVORITE FLOWER?
Immediately my mind says peony. Isn't it everyone's? But there are a few close runner ups when peonies just aren't available. Hydrangeas, sweet peas and garden roses. Basically everything in my wedding bouquet.

MOST / LEAST ORGANIZED SPACE IN YOUR HOME?
The most organized would probably be my craft / gift closet AKA the guest bedroom closet.
One rainy day off it went from this...
To this!

The least organized room is definitely our other spare bedroom, lovingly called the junk room. Left over wedding decorations, Christmas decorations, and pretty much anything else that doesn't have a place to go gets thrown stored in this room.

WHAT BOOK HAVE YOU READ RECENTLY THAT REALLY MOVED YOU?

..........crickets..........

WHAT DISH ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THANKSGIVING DINNER? There is no way I can pick just one! Turkey covered in gravy, my aunt's cheesy twice baked potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and green bean casserole will always make an appearance on my plate. Often times twice.

HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE?
"Milkshake" style as Cameron likes to call it. He thinks I put too much sugar and creamer in it. In reality, I only put about half a spoon of sugar and some flavored creamer in it.

WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL?
My metabolism and lack of bills.

MOST MEMORABLE CONCERT?
The Darius Rucker concert this summer had to be it. Not only did we get backstage passes with amazing seats, but we got to meet Darius after the show! Being a fan of his for just about 20 years, it was a pretty big deal.

HOW DO YOU UNWIND BEFORE BED?
On the couch under a blanket. Watching one of our favorite tv episodes, while also having my phone in my hand. Just keeping it real. In my other hand, an after dinner cocktail.

DOTS OR STRIPES?
I really do like polka dots, but if you looked in my closet, the clear winner would be stripes.

LAST MEAL?
Filet Mignon, truffled mac and cheese, cucumber sushi roll, fried pickle chips (duh) guacamole, and some type of dessert with chocolate / peanut butter combination. Might as well go out stuffing my face till I'm uncomfortable.

How To Throw An Oyster Roast!

A few weeks ago, after I posted about a small oyster roast we threw at our house, I received a few questions regarding how to cook oysters and what all was needed for an oyster roast. Then, Mariel suggested that I post a How-To so here it is!

What you'll need...
-Saltine crackers
-Lemon wedges
-Cocktail sauce
-Tabasco or any other hot sauce
-Oyster knives {can be found at your local hardware store, tackle shop, or Wal-Mart}
-Gloves / towels / paper towels
-Trash cans specifically for discarded oyster shells {Contact your local DNR to see where your closest oyster shell recycling station is. They place the shells back into the water to promote new oyster growth.}
-Table that can get dirty or a piece of plywood resting on sawhorses
-Cooker with propane {We use something similar to a turkey fryer}
-Oysters {one bushel per 5-10 people, depending on the level of oyster eaters}
-Another dish such as chili or chicken bog for the non-oyster eaters

How to prepare...
-Purchase bushels of oysters as close to your oyster roast as possible. Keep them in a cool, dry place until ready to cook.
-Before cooking, rinse oysters off well with a hose to remove any excess mud / dirt.
-Put about 2 inches of water in bottom of pot. Light the burner and place oysters inside basket once water has started to boil / steam. Cover with lid.
-Cook for approximately 5-10 minutes. Less time for more runny oysters, more time for more chewy ones. The more you cook, the easier the shells will be to open.
-Eat with whatever condiment you prefer and enjoy!

That's how we do it around here! There are other ways to cook oysters, but this is the way that works best for us. Let me know if you have any questions {and I'll be sure to ask Cameron!}.

Busy Weekend.

Good Monday morning and Happy Veteran's Day!

Things have been quite busy around here, which explains the lack of posting. Let's get caught up, shall we?

Thursday after work, we took our annual girls' trip to the fair. We don't ride rides (well, except for the ferris wheel) or pet the animals in the petting zoo - we go to eat. And eat we did.

Corn dogs
Fiske fries
Fried mushrooms
Fried oreos
Fried twinkies
Red velvet funnel cake
Regular funnel cake

As a matter of fact.

Friday I had the day off, so what did I decide to do? Help set up for a wedding. Christmas is coming up, people! Any extra income is a good thing! The ceremony and reception were held at the Legare Waring House and my friend, Stephanie, was their planner. She owns her own company here in Charleston called SweetGrass Events.

Saturday, I had to work an oyster roast that my department threw for our property owners. It was held at Rhett's Bluff, which is where our property owners launch their boats. It turned out to be an awesome event with perfect weather. An event I was really proud to be involved in the planning process!

Sunday, we went to Baby Ashton's dedication at church, visited Cameron's grandmother, went grocery shopping, cleaned the house, then went to eat a yummy Fall inspired dinner at my parents' house! Butternut squash soup, brussel sprouts, potato gratin, pork tenderloin, and peach cobbler! SO good.

And my mom just texted me asking why I was so quiet at dinner last night. This is why, mom. :)

Three Years on Tiffany - The Dining Room.

The next room in our Three Years on Tiffany series is the dining room, which is attached to the kitchen, and the room that you walk through to get to the office and back porch.

I apologize for the quality lacking photos.

October 2010.
This is the view looking in from the kitchen on the day that Cameron was given the keys. This house was a short sale and it had been sitting for quite a while.

November 2010
The walls were painted grey and a light was installed. It's no light from West Elm or Restoration Hardware, but it gets the job done for now.

April 2011
Was given a kitchen table and chairs by my grandmother, and gave them a nice paint job.

August 2011
Bought the Ikea Expedit and turned it into a bar. Made a gallery wall.

May 2013
Finally decided on a rug for the room after many returns. Was given a china cabinet and gave it a makeover! See before, during and after pictures here. Still can't believe my grandmother and Cameron's grandmother owned the same exact china that they passed down to us!
The picture below is from Mother's Day this year.

And today! Ok, yesterday.

Recent Buys.

I have put myself on a restriction for November from buying any clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. Anything but necessities (groceries, etc). So you know what the means - I stocked up in October!

I bought this chambray shirt first but returned it. I like the one below better because of the color and it is more fitted.
Extra 30% off of Fall sale items with code LOVEFALL

J. Crew Factory Crystal Pendant Necklace
All jewelry is 50% off right now!

Groopdealz goodies.
I really wanted the leopard iPhone case but it was sold out so I settled for the white.
And how cute are these scalloped bangles?? The turquoise should be arriving in my mailbox any day now.
Groopdealz is a great place to find inexpensive, trendy items! If the trend fades quickly, who cares? You didn't spend a fortune on it.

Earrings galore.

Old Navy 3/4 Sleeve Maxi Dress
Loved it so much in garnet, I bought it in black! On sale right now for only $15 + 15% off with code ONSAVENOW

Phew, that's it.
I promise, Cameron!

Slacker.

I'M NOT PREGNANT. Apparently in Bloglovin,' the picture is the pumpkins below of a FRIEND'S ANNOUNCEMENT. Just wanted to clarify that. #postfail

It's been a little quiet around here the past few days and for that, I apologize. Between my computer being messed up at work and wanting to go into hibernation now that the weather is cooling off, I haven't really been super inspired or motivated.
I'm not even going to bother with posting our dinner menu this week because I will only be cooking two nights...and last night's dinner wasn't even tasty enough to post about.

So let's talk about what's been going on lately..

Hmm..Cameron's cousin's wife welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world yesterday!

Our friends, Kate and Grant, announced that they are due with a little one in April.

April also announced that she also has a bun in the oven! When she ordered decaf coffee during our farmers market date, it didn't even cross my mind! And I am usually on top of those kinds of things.

Emily, Caroline, Katie and I are going on our annual fair trip on Thursday. Free admission tickets and free ride tickets = more money for fried food of all kinds!

Saturday night my sister and friend, Lyndsey, went to see Will Hoge at the Music Farm! Can't even remember how many times I've seen him but it was an awesome show, as always! He always stays after his shows to sign autographs and talk to his fans, which is pretty neat.

 That's all for now folks!
