Low Tide in Columbia! 35-21

Going into the game on Saturday, it was the #19 team playing the #1 team. As much as I hate to say it, I had little confidence. I got my hopes up for Auburn, only to be let down in the 2nd half and I saw what Alabama did to Florida. But just 5 minutes into the game, my confidence was back up, thanks to Marcus Lattimore scoring his 1st out of 3 touchdowns! South Carolina was up 21-9 at halftime. I was a very happy girl. When I saw the word "final" next to South Carolina 35 - Alabama 21, I could hardly believe my eyes! I couldn't even clap or yell or squeal or ANYTHING because I was sitting through a wedding ceremony. A very beautiful wedding ceremony, by the way. The reception was the perfect time to celebrate and rub the win into the mostly Clemson crowd's face. (Clemson lost to North Carolina, which made our win even sweeter!)

Here are some game pics from the Post & Courier website and some interesting statistics..

In 2010, the University of South Carolina beat the #1 team in 3 major sports - football, baseball and basketball! Only the second team known to have done that!

Stephen Garcia, not always my favorite player, completed 17 out of 20 passes for 201 yards with 3 touchdown passes.

South Carolina's biggest win previously, based on polls, was against No. 3 North Carolina in 1981. Saturday was USC's third win against a top-five team in 37 tries.

Alabama's senior quarterback, Greg McElroy, hadn't lost a game he started since he was in eighth grade.

South Carolina sacked Alabama's quarterback seven times. Stephen Garcia was only sacked once.

South Carolina is now ranked #10 and Alabama dropped to #8. :)

5QF and a giveaway in the works??

It's Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiday! My weekend won't officially begin until 11pm tonight due to a rehearsal dinner for work. But that's ok because Saturday morning Cameron and I are heading to the upstate! Greer, SC for Stephanie & William's wedding! Lucky wedding #15 for the year! We're getting up there early enough to watch our games, which both happen to be at 3:30pm. South Carolina vs. Alabama (kinda scared, not gonna lie) and Clemson vs. NC State. I have a feeling the wedding is going to be AMAZING and SO much fun! Will try my best to remember to take some pictures...I tend to forget when there is an open bar...

On a random note, I've been thinking about hosting my very first giveaway! And since I'm only 3 followers away from 50, I'm thinking that will be the perfect time! Once I hit 50, that is.. The new Darius Rucker cd comes out next week so that is currently sticking in my mind..maybe a gift card of some sort, as well. Since I'm new to the giveaway thing, I need your advice! Would you be interested in winning those prizes??

Ok, time for the questions..

1. What do you listen to while driving?

Whatever is on the radio..I have no cd's and I keep forgetting to buy a hookup for my Ipod! Need to put that on my Christmas / Bday wish list (my bday is 4 days after Christmas so whatever I don't get for Christmas, I tend to get for my birthday)

2. What is your least favorite thing about Fall?

This is easy - the paleness!!! Let me show you an example..

I don't go to tanning beds anymore and don't want to pay for a spray tan every week. I would love to use the self tanning lotions but hate that I smell like a tanning bed all day after using them. Anyone want to suggest some good smelling lotions to try out??

3. What does your dream house look like, inside and out?

First of all, it would be located on a body of water with a dock.  Other "musts" would include a big yard that Brady could run around in, a big open kitchen that I could entertain in, a nice big jacuzzi tub, and a fireplace. Oh, and all of the floors would be heated! :) Y'know, nothing tooooo fancy or tooooo big.

4. Would you ever own a minivan?

My first thought is to say no, but I've learned to never say never! An SUV would be much more of what I have in mind for once it becomes necessary..

5. Do you wash new clothes before wearing them?

Not gonna lie, no. I'm usually too excited about buying them and want to wear them right away. It is kind of gross now that I think about it. There's no telling how many people actually tried it on before I bought it..

Cameron = Slave Driver

Things have been going non-stop since Cameron closed on his house last week. I've been doing everything from pulling weeds to picking out paint samples (so fun, but so hard!) and last night when I should have been in bed, we were removing all of the kitchen cabinets and spakling. Reconstruction of the bathrooms are in full gear, as well. Well, the contractors are doing that, not us.

Here are a few teaser pics...stay tuned for the finished product!

celebration mimosas!
Brady loves the backyard...and I love the firepit!
how we found it
there's a lamp post under all of that!

workin' hard
I'll take more pics this weekend!

AH-mazing Weather + a CSN Giveaway!

Can I just start by saying how AWESOME it feels outside lately?!? Loving it.

Last night a group of us wanted to eat some good Mexican + sit outside. The perfect place? Taco Boy downtown. Everyone in Charleston loves some Taco Boy! The girls sat on one end and talked about girly things and the guys sat on the other end talking about football...and more football. I took a really cute picture of the girls, but of course forgot to bring my cord to work again! Grr. After sharing 4 appetizer trios, a baja fish taco to myself, and a few Blue Moon's, we relocated to Midtown. After a few beers there, the married couples went home and Cameron, Katie, Henry and I went and had some extra dirty martini's at Oku. Every bar we attempted to go to before Oku was extremely packed. Oku was basically empty (which was strange) and the leather couches in the front of the restaurant looked so inviting, it won the vote of our next stop. Hot dogs from a street vendor followed the dirty martini's on our walk back to the car and they were enjoyed romantically on the tailgate of Cameron's truck. :)

This morning we rolled out of bed at about 8:30 and headed to Cameron's new house for a day of tackling the yard. The house had not been lived in or taken care of for quite some time so you can imagine what it looked like. There's a 6 or 7ft light pole in the front yard that was completely covered with vines. I didn't even know it was there until I saw a picture of the house from back in 2004 when it was on the market. We actually got most of the front yard completed by time I had to leave at 11:30 to go get ready for work. Cameron's parents were there and my mom came by to help, too! I stopped back by on the way to work because I forgot to give Cameron his credit card back and to my surprise, my mom was mowing the back yard in her flip flops. Crazy lady.  I'm sure we'll all be back there tomorrow!

Now, I'm sitting at work. Wedding at 6pm. The groom is actually catering it himself! He's a chef at a nearby restaurant so he figured no one could do it better than himself! It's a small wedding and it's scheduled to be over reasonably early, which I am very happy about.

On to the giveaway!

As I was catching up on the blogs I follow, I randomly came across a new blog, Fairy Tales Are True. Sadie is a super cute wife who's husband is a baseball coach. Her father was also a MLB player for 12 years. From the US, they moved to Switzerland shortly after their wedding. Her blog is about their travels and things she loves, including her love of turquoise, just like myself! Another great thing about her? She's giving away a $35 CSN gift certificate! I can think of a few things I could use that for...

Harbor House Chelsea Oblong Pillow - $29.99

Reston Lloyd Calypso Basics 5 Quart Colander - $23.99

Kalorik 1500 Watt Cordless Electric Kettle - $21.95

A Day Off and 5QF!

Yesterday was my day off for the week and like any other day off during the week, I spent it running errands.

-First up, an oil change at Morris Nissan! I had to do the shameless plug since Cameron's dad and uncle run the show over there. And while I'm doing shameless plugs, Emily's family owns Luxury Cars of Charleston right across the street! :)

-After that, I went grocery shopping for a "few things" and left spending close to $60. How does that happen?!?!

-Next up, I met Cameron at his newly purchased home and we celebrated with mimosas! :) I REALLY want to post all of the pics I took of the house but am thinking maybe I should wait until all of the cleaning/painting/renovations have been completed to do the dramatic reveal of before and afters. Dangit, I wanted to upload a pic of the mimosas, but forgot to bring my cord. :( Oh well, you'll just have to imagine for now..

-Met my Dad for lunch..he's working in my neck of the woods now so it's nice to be able to hang out with him during the week, even if it's just for 30 minutes.

-After that, I headed to North Charleston to my sister's work to find a pair of glasses! I've tried contacts over and over again and they just annoy me! I guess with the type of astigmatism I have, the contacts make lights realllllly blurry, which is not good when I have to drive home at midnight down Bohicket Rd. So, glasses have been ordered! I look like a big nerd, but a picture of them is below. They're tortoise shell and I love them.

On to Five Question Friday..

1. Did you have a pen pal when you were little (or now)? Where were/are they from?

If I did,  #1 I don't remember and #2 it didn't last very long. Unless you count writing notes back and forth in class, then I had lots.

2. If you could do a different job for one day, what would it be?

I would want to do something CSI-ish! I love how finding and using evidence is like putting together a puzzle.

3. Do you remember your biggest fear from when you were little?

Probably the same as they are now - spiders and snakes.

4. What do you think is a waste of time? Why?

Curling my hair. By time I walk out the door, it's already straight again. So annoying.

5. What is the oldest item you have in your closet?

Probably a garnet pair of pants from Express that I always think I'll wear for yet another year of tailgating. The last time I probably actually wore them was my senior year of college, 4 years ago.

you know you love it. bottom row, third from the left.
Have a great weekend! Mine will consist of working and most likely, painting. What fun!
