Friday Five!

Good morning and TGIF!
Linking up today, as always on Fridays, with April, Christina, Darci, and Natasha.

Here's a little peak of what I've been up to lately.

{one}
Got done with my property walks a little early yesterday so I popped into a few stores on my way home. First stop was a place called Nearly New Furniture on Johns Island. I've driven past this place on my way to and from work for 5 years, but never gone in. I was pleasantly surprised with their selection and quality of furniture! Saw this alphabet dresser and thought it would be so adorable in a baby nursery! Hopefully by time we need it it will #1 still be there and #2 be heavily discounted because it was rather expensive.

{two}
Next stop was to Marshall's to look for lamps. No luck with that, but I did stumble across these adorable lucite letter bookends. They're pretty hard to take a picture of in the store, so my apologies in advance.

{three}
Also found in Marshall's were these crispy chickpeas. I'm always looking for new, healthy toppings to put on my salad and these are so tasty! Also good as a snack if you are craving something crunchy. They also come in cracked pepper, smoky chili & lime, sweet cinnamon, mesquite bbq, thai cocounut lemongrass, and chocolate flavors.

Exciting news! Last week, we welcomed our third niece into the world! Her name is Arden and she is perfection. We were actually not told her name until she was born, which had all of us racking our brains as to what it was going to be, but was a fun surprise in the end. Can't wait to snuggle her again soon!

{five}
Have an exciting weekend planned. Tonight we're going to dinner at Bonefish (already know what I'm going to order and yes, it includes tuna) then going to a Stingray's hockey game. Random? Yes. Fun? Always! Tomorrow we're doing the Upper King Street Culinary tour and I will be instagramming along the way. Don't browse on an empty stomach. Sunday my parents are having us over for a steak dinner, thanks to Cameron winning a bet with my dad (but really no thanks since the bet was on the Clemson / Carolina game). Oh, and painting our living room somewhere in between all of that.

Friday night at work = random post.

Have a rehearsal dinner going on upstairs right now so I didn't have to be at work until 3:30pm, which was nice. The internet was down from about 5-6pm and when it came back up - BAM! No Facebook and no Hulu. My two go-to websites for event nights. Now what the HECK am I supposed to do during my events?? Luckily, I can still read blogs and get on Pinterest..and I can always get on Facebook and watch ABC shows on my phone. It's just not the same though..

So in order to pass a few minutes of the last two hours I have here, a few random thoughts on my mind...

-Today marks the ONE YEAR countdown until I marry my favorite guy in the world!!
source
-My mom and I met with the caterer today, which made me even more excited about the countdown! Wedding Wednesday post to come soon about that!
source
You KNOW these will be on the menu!
-Speaking on delicious green niblets, these were on my desk today when I got to work!
German pickles! Vielen dank! (The translator tells me that means thank you.)
-Yesterday I had the bright idea to volunteer to babysit on my day off. Little did I know when I volunteered that it was from 7am - 10:30pm. That's 15.5 hours, people!!! 3 kids, too! The oldest one (ages 7 and 10) were in school...but only for a half day. The 3 year old never took a nap. They had some good moments, but for the most part they were awful. I almost cried. I just wanted to go home! Luckily, a friend suggested I bring my Wii over there and I could just kiss her for that suggestion! It saved my sanity.

-And lastly, Cameron and I ordered a bookshelf for his office YESTERDAY from Target and guess what was on our porch TODAY! The bookshelf! That is some crazy fast shipping, Target. Kudos to you!

That's all the randomness for now! Have a good night and a great weekend!

Guest Bedroom!

I don't have every little thing decorated yet in the guest room, but I just cannot wait any longer to show you the furniture that I painted! So let's start from the beginning...
How we found it. Niiiiiiice.
Ripped up the carpet and painted multiple coats of paint.
New carpet and no more blue tape.
Furniture (dresser and two end tables) bought off of Craigslist for $40.

TA-DA!
TA-DA!
Bedding and pictures from Target.
Fish painting by moi.
Now, I want to find two smaller matching lamps for the end tables and a large lamp or vase for the white dresser.

Hope you like! But don't tell me if you don't, my feelings would get hurt. :) Maybe just give me ideas to improve!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving that my Craigslist furniture is done!! And the guest bedroom is somewhat done! I just have to buy little things like lamps and decorations to complete it. I'll do a separate post later today with pictures!

I'm loving that Shasta Anne is having another awesome giveaway (a $100 Visa card!) Go here to enter!

I'm loving this pic Cameron texted me on Saturday night of some of the guests in our backyard! What do you call that thing they're standing under anyway? A pavilion? I have no idea.

I'm loving the charcoal Duex Lux "Mercer" wallet! Cameron? :)

I'm loving that I'm off work on Friday and I'll be going on my first fishing trip of 2011!

Slacker.

I've been really slack on re-painting the furniture I bought off of Craigslist. (post here) So I've decided to look for grey & yellow rooms online for some inspiration..

Hopefully my motivation will come back to me!

Craigslist Find! (Now What??)

A few weeks ago while I was bored at work (surprise, surprise), I was looking around on Craigslist for some cheap furniture that was just begging for some fresh paint. I stumbled across an awesome set of matching nightstands and a matching dresser for just $40! I contacted the seller immediately and picked them up 2 days later.

Here they are:
Love the detail on the top drawers.

Please excuse my messy garage and crappy photog skills.
Now, for my question: The tops of the night stands & dresser are laminate. Sanding won't help. What am I supposed to do to make sure the paint sticks and doesn't look horrendous?? Help please! I found this article and am hoping it's for real. But I still welcome any other suggestions!

I plan on painting the dresser a mustard-y yellow and the night stands white. Or vice versa. I know I want yellow and white because I think it will look great with the grey wall color.

This is the picture that pretty much came my inspiration for this particular project and guest room. I'm so sorry I cannot remember which blog I found it on though! If it's yours please let me know so I can give you credit!

Thanks y'all! :)

Living Room Update

The living room is almost complete! The only thing that we are still searching for is a rug that we both like! Like many people's first houses, we used some furniture and decorations we already had, and mixed it with new items, as well! The tv table from CSN and couch from Haverty's were the two main new purchases. Cameron already had a leather chair and love seat so we knew we wanted to buy things that would match those.

Ready for some before and after pics??

BEFORE

AFTER (ish)

Yes, that is a sheet over the window for the time being.

Don't get me started on the owl.

Please excuse the mess. As you can see, we still have some work to do, but I think it's a good start! :)
