Thursday's Thoughts.

-Valentine's Day was a great day! Cameron surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of stargazer lilies!

Cameron's Valentine's presents from me:
That's a big statement from me. :)
Man bouquet with cigars and mini bottles!
And because my Daddy is so cute, I wanted to show off what he did for my Mom..

-This past Saturday, Emily and I drove to Columbia to celebrate Jen & Joe! They are getting married in April and are one of my favorite couples! It was the first time I've seen this group of friends since getting engaged so that was exciting, too. :)

-Cameron's parents stopped by after church last Sunday and surprised Cameron with getting his diplomas framed! They really tied the office together and look great! He's a smarty and has three. He was also kind enough to tell me that I could hang my diploma in the laundry room since that's "my room." That guy...

-Got my tax return deposited into my account yesterday! Holler! Got my car worked on, bought a pretty dress for one of the many weddings this year that I'll be attending and put some in savings!

Hope you all have a great Thursday! It's almost the weekend!

Wedding Wednesday: Bridesmaid Dresses.

Welcome to my first installment of Wedding Wednesday!
I'm going to try my best to not bore you with wedding details every day and keep the wedding talk to a mimum of once a week within the next 13 months. But let's be serious, what girl doesn't like to look at wedding pictures and talk about weddings? And let's be serious again, I've been waiting for my big day for 28 years so I'm most likely going to be talking about it more than once a week. Sorry I'm not sorry.
First up - bridesmaid dresses! And it's going to be a lengthy one.

As I previously mentioned, last Saturday I met up wit
h some of my bmaids and my mom and we went to a bridal shop in West Ashley to see if any bmaid dresses caught our eye. I was very pleased in the selection of dresses that Condon's had available for us to try on!
There were 3 that I liked, but one in particular really stood out to all of us.
Obviously the color is hideous, resembling clay mud, but I liked the style. Ultimately, it was "too bridesmaid-y" for me.
A close runner-up.
The winner! We loved that it looked great on the "blessed with a chest" ladies and the "not so blessed with a chest" ladies, that it's not your standard bridesmaid dress and that it was comfortable! It also comes in a WIDE selection of colors..

Which brings me to my next topic..the COLOR!

Since I've started planning the wedding (ok way before we even got engaged), I've always envisioned a soft color palette. Ivory, soft coral/pink, gold, and soft greens.
Something like this..

That brings me to my dilemma. What color bridesmaid dresses do they wear??
This photo I saw on Pinterest REALLY has me leaning towards champagne / nude color, but I'm worried that with the wedding being in late March, and although I'm sure a lot of them will get spray tan's, they will look washed out.

As I mentioned above (if you are still reading - thank you!), there are a WIDE variety of colors to choose from.
Here are the top contenders: (Sorry they are so small & blurry)
Palomino

Cameo

Rose

Amethyst
Celadon (least favorite)

Obviously the colors are different in person than on the website, but the teeny tiny swatches that they show you in the store don't help either. Jean's in Mt. Pleasant also carries this line of dresses, so when we go there on the 25th for me to try on dresses (!!!), I'm hoping I can see some of these colors in real life. Otherwise, I'll have to order swatches from the website.

And finally, on to my last question..how do you feel about similar mixed colors vs. all one color bridesmaid dresses?

Sorry so long winded today! Can you tell I'm having a hard time making decisions already??
I really appreciate all of your thoughts / advice!

Oh yeah, the bridesmaid dress is by Dessy - found here. :)

Shifty.

I am in love with shift dresses. They can be casual and worn with flats during the day and later that night, dressed up with a great pair of heels. Not to mention, comfortable! Here are some favorites of mine:

What are yall's plans for the weekend?

Tomorrow I'm going to check out a shop to look at potential bridesmaid dresses then Cameron and I are going to check out a site that is the potential location of our engagement pictures (not taking them until April though). Sunday I'll be attending a bridal shower and then, of course, watching the Superbowl and stuffing my face with all of the foods which will cancel out this past week's gym trips. Fun!

It's That Time Again!

Ladies, it's that time again where I need your help. Cameron's brother is getting married next month and I need to decide what I'm going to wear to the wedding!

I was originally just going to find a dress to buy, but then I discovered that I have a $20 credit to Rent the Runway! Problem (almost) solved!

Here are the dresses that I've narrowed it down to.

Which one is your favorite??

#1 - Shoshanna Lace and Love Dress

#2 - alldressedup Coral Geometric Neck Dress

#3 - Tibi Sage Embroidered Keyhole Dress (love the back of the dress)

#4- Milly Midnight Tulip Bow Dress (It's actually a midnight blue color, not black)

#5 - Tibi Teal Applique Bloussant Dress
#6 - Milly Pretty Belted Ruffle Dress

I really appreciate your help! I am the worst decision maker!

Emily & Caroline - Find something fancy to do on Friday, October 7th or Sunday, October 9th so that yall can get in on this rental! :)

Rent the Runway

I'm probably a little late on this whole phenomenon, but thanks to Amanda at My Switch to Scrubs, I may have a new dangerous obsession on my hands.

RTR is a company founded by two former Harvard students who had the same dilemma as most of my friends and I do. Even though we have a closet full of dresses, we want a new, special (and most likely, pricey) dress for the upcoming wedding or date. RTR allows you to rent a designer dress for a 4 day time period for about 75-90% off the original price of the dress! I personally have a few dresses that I paid a pretty penny for and have only worn once or twice.

Here are a few items that I've already added to my Favorites..

Tibi Calla Lily Cap Sleeve Dress
Rent for $35!! Retails for $378
Tibi Abstract Flower Dress
Rent for $50, Retails for $425

Mark & James by Badgley Mischka Grecian Escape Dress
Rent for $35, Retails for $360

Mark & James by Badgley Mischka Cotton Puff Sleeve Dress
Rent for $30, Retails for $380

The $30 - $35 dresses will wind up renting for around $50 after insurance and shipping, but hey, that still beats buying it at $300 - $400!

Thanks for the post, Amanda!

Oh, and Emily, don't let David know I was the one that told you about this...kthanks!
