Five on Friday is Back!

Five things that are making me happy on this sunny Friday...

{one}
Brady got to go to work with me on Wednesday. Once a week I have to go out to my properties and do walk-throughs to look for issues, make sure contractors are working, etc.

Came across this beast, then a few minutes later a turkey.
Gotta love Kiawah's wildlife.

And took a stroll on the beach.
I love his fluffy tail.

This weekend, the low's are going to be in the low 50's! Where in the world did that come from?!? I'm not complaining though. Can't wait for some backyard fire pit fires.

Now that it's out in the open, I'm so happy to announce that our friends, Jessica & Jason, are expecting a baby in early April! So excited for these two!!

What are your plans for the weekend?
We're doing the Dream Center walk tomorrow morning (my grandmother volunteers there), watching a lot of football on Saturday, and ending the weekend with a family dinner at my parent's on Sunday.

Beach Date.

Yesterday, as I was driving home from work and talking to Cameron on the phone, we decided to forgo our original dinner plans and drive to the beach to enjoy the nice weather since the rest of the week was looking pretty nasty.

I was already on my way to Publix so I picked up a sub and some chips for a picnic style dinner.

It was so nice to do something different and spontaneous after work, instead of our normal routine!

Rainbow!

This guy had a blast.

That Time We Went Camping...

Good Monday morning! I am seriously dragging this morning and the coffee is not helping. Last Friday, I left off by saying that we had noooo plans for the weekend. Well, somehow we got convinced to go camping on a beach in 30 degree weather. Now, that might sound miserable to you, because it surely did to me, but it was actually fun and we weren't even that cold!

We left Saturday around 2pm so that we could have enough time to get set up before the sun went down. It was just a quick 10 minute trip from Folly Beach to the backside of Kiawah, by boat. Three couples and two dogs in tow. It was Cameron and my first time camping together and I can successfully say that we put up our tent without wanting to kill each other!

The wood that we hauled over to keep us warm. We still went on hunts for more wood throughout the day and evening.

This guy was in Heaven.

Cameron looks like it's just another day in Charleston and I look like I should be in Antarctica. Don't care though, I was WARM.

The sunset was gorgeous, as usual.

That night, we grilled some hot dogs and brats on a portable grill that Andy brought, and later roasted marhmallows over the fire and made s'mores.

When the moon was first coming up over the water, it was SO huge and orange, we literally did not know what it was at first. (Could have had something to do with the adult  beverages.) I couldn't really get a good picture of it, so this one will have to do.

We went to bed around 1am when the firewood supply started to dwindle and I can honestly say that I was not cold at all. Waking up in the morning to the sound of crashing waves was so peaceful, too. When we got home around 11am, we got out of our stinky campfire smelling clothes, took nice hot showers, and laid on the couch alllll day.

I'm so glad we went and will not be as nervous next time someone asks us to go camping!

PGA Sunday!

For all of you who live in Charleston, you know that the PGA Championship was on Kiawah Island last week. And as yall may or may not know, I work on Kiawah (for the community association, not the resort)! Leading up to the tournament, we really didn't know what to expect! Of course we knew that a TON (30,000 a day) people would be coming to our small 13 square mile island, but we still weren't sure of it were going to be crazy or what. I'm happy to say that it was not that bad traffic wise (for me, anyway). There were 200 large busses that hauled spectators from off the island to The Ocean Course, which helped greatly with the flow...except for that one yesterday that tried to make a turn, got stuck and wound up stopping traffic to the course for 90 minutes! Oops.

Cameron and I weren't planning on going just because golf really isn't our thing. But I ended up getting two free tickets from work so I said, why not? When will this ever happen again?!?

Here's a small recap of our day:

Vijay Singh on hole 17

Dad & Mom

Resting in between rounds.

Up close and personal with Bubba Watson, winner of this year's Masters Tournament.

A better view of Bubba. :)
Ian Poulter (in white) on hole 9..he was giving McIlroy a run for his money for a few holes.

And because it was Sunday, and we were hungry, we hit up Maria's on the way home.

PS - Big thanks to everyone who commented on my rug dilemma! We do want to go the next size up but would have to wait until the end of September to receive it because it's on backorder! I'm going to call Ballard today to see if they can do anything about that.

Fun in the Sun!

In between working Friday & Sunday night, I got to have some fun in the sun on Saturday!

Emily, Caroline and I, with our men, took the dogs out to the Kiawah dog beach. The hauling of the coolers, chairs, bags, dogs and tent was not so fun, but after we finally got to our spot, we all had a blast!

Megan & Brady, Emily & Gracie, Caroline & Birdie

Our little family..with Bennett in the background. :)

he would only drink water out of the cooler.

that's one sleepy pup.

As if that wasn't enough sun, after the beach we went back to Cameron's parent's house to swim in their pool. Then we still weren't sick of one another so we went back to our house, ordered pizza (didn't fall asleep this time) and played some drinking games.

What a fun (and exhausting) day!

Kiawah Dog Beach.

On Saturday a group of us ventured out to the dog beach on Kiawah Island. It was my first time out there, even though I work on Kiawah. The seven humans and six doggies all had a great time. It confirmed how much I like the boat more than the beach, but I'm still glad we went!
