Welcome to my first installment of Wedding Wednesday!
I'm going to try my best to not bore you with wedding details every day and keep the wedding talk to a mimum of once a week within the next 13 months. But let's be serious, what girl doesn't like to look at wedding pictures and talk about weddings? And let's be serious again, I've been waiting for my big day for 28 years so I'm most likely going to be talking about it more than once a week. Sorry I'm not sorry.
First up - bridesmaid dresses! And it's going to be a lengthy one.
As I previously mentioned, last Saturday I met up wit
h some of my bmaids and my mom and we went to a bridal shop in West Ashley to see if any bmaid dresses caught our eye. I was very pleased in the selection of dresses that Condon's had available for us to try on!

There were 3 that I liked, but one in particular really stood out to all of us.
Obviously the color is hideous, resembling clay mud, but I liked the style. Ultimately, it was "too bridesmaid-y" for me. |
A close runner-up. |
Which brings me to my next topic..the COLOR!
Since I've started planning the wedding (ok way before we even got engaged), I've always envisioned a soft color palette. Ivory, soft coral/pink, gold, and soft greens.
Something like this..

That brings me to my dilemma. What color bridesmaid dresses do they wear??
This photo I saw on Pinterest REALLY has me leaning towards champagne / nude color, but I'm worried that with the wedding being in late March, and although I'm sure a lot of them will get spray tan's, they will look washed out.

As I mentioned above (if you are still reading - thank you!), there are a WIDE variety of colors to choose from.
Here are the top contenders: (Sorry they are so small & blurry)
Palomino
Cameo
Rose
Amethyst
Celadon (least favorite)
Obviously the colors are different in person than on the website, but the teeny tiny swatches that they show you in the store don't help either. Jean's in Mt. Pleasant also carries this line of dresses, so when we go there on the 25th for me to try on dresses (!!!), I'm hoping I can see some of these colors in real life. Otherwise, I'll have to order swatches from the website.
And finally, on to my last question..how do you feel about similar mixed colors vs. all one color bridesmaid dresses?

I really appreciate all of your thoughts / advice!

Oh yeah, the bridesmaid dress is by Dessy - found here. :)
I love the idea of different color dresses. You can pick out three and they can pick their favorite. Makes it more personal :)
ReplyDeleteGreat dress by the way. Love the style!
New to your blog! but I like the mixed colors. Maybe like 2 or 3 colors mixed?
ReplyDeleteAnd great dress choice- love it!
As of lately I've been a big fan of the mixed dresses too! I love all the colors you pictured and the dress looks perfect for dancing the night away!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your choice! Im in a wedding in March and wearing the second one, which fits great, too. Im love the sort of nude color, but I also like the mixture of colors - its seems very laid back and casual. It will be great whatever you decide!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the dress you picked! Your girls are so lucky to have such a cute dress! I kind of like the idea of mixing up the colors.
ReplyDeleteamazing dress choice :) it is absolutely stunning and will look so great in the photos. i adore the color palatte you are going with- so classic. my choice for the dress is rose. still a nice pop of color, but soft enough where it doesn't distract from the bride - aka YOU! can't wait to see what you pick!
ReplyDeleteobviously i've never been married before or had a wedding, but i'm down with having the girls pick their color. i'm really down the amethyst or the rose color though.
ReplyDeleteOh girl, this is exactly what I pictured when I thought of your wedding ;) is that weird? I LOVE the color palette..please don't change it. I love the idea of the mixed color dresses - all being light colors. Personally I liked the light mint green dress, but I also like the rose. PLEASE keep doing wedding weds so we get a glimpse into your decisions! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the dress you chose! I'm a big fan of the mixed neutrals for colors. One of my friends is getting married in October and is using a similar color scheme. All of her bridesmaids are going to be in a different color. I think it can look great, especially at an outdoor wedding. Indoor, it might be harder to pull off.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of mixing colors!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Wedding Wednesday! I love the bridesmaid dress you chose :)
ReplyDeleteI love the dress that you girls decided on! Super cute! I'm a fan of the palomino color, but I do agree that they'd probably look best with a spray tan! I'm not sure that I'm into the different color bridesmaids dresses. Maybe that picture is throwing me off, I think her colors don't really flow. Please keep up with wedding Wednesday's!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress you chose, adorable! I really like the rose color and the idea of mixing colors!
ReplyDeletelove the dress you chose! and I think mixing the light colors would look great!
ReplyDeleteAnything but rose :P I wouldn't want to ruin your pictures. Therefore, I vote for mixing it up if that's the way to go :) At the end of the day, it's all about you, so I'll do whatever I can to make you happy (yes, save that statement for later) :) <3
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you picked for the girls! We just went shopping for dresses this weekend and there are so many choices out there that it's hard to pick one. I think champagne or a light kakhi color would look great in that style. I am pretty pale skined and was in a wedding with champagne dresses and it didn't look bad. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress that you picked for the girls. It's always nice to have a dress that you can wear again. I actually really like the rose color. Im sure whatever you choose will be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I LOVE that dress! Its so chic and not bridesmaid-y so you could definitely wear it again... Also, I have been loving the mixed colors because it photographs really well. I really like the palomino color and I think the bouquet with it would really pop!
ReplyDeleteHooray for wedding planning!! Isn't it so fun?!? Love, love the dress. They will be gorgeous. I agree with you that the champagne/tan might be too washed out for March.... but I love the idea of mixing colors and doing the three middle colors you picked - Cameo, Rose, Amethyst. They will definitely compliment each other well and photograph well. I would give them the option to choose their own color out of the two or three, etc. you pick... because you might find that they all pick the same color and then you won't even have to pick for them. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful pics!!!amazing blog!!!i'm following you!!if you like mine,do the same!!!

I love the idea of ivory/blush/nude....I did my bridesmaids in that color. The second color is my favorite. Adorable choice!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress you chose. It's beautiful and looks like it will be flattering on every body shape. I absolutely love the pale color idea. I would have so gone that route had I gotten married in spring/summer. I don't think you could go wrong with any of those colors, there all beautiful but I do love the pale pink and champagne one and I think you definitely need the ladies to wear a chunky necklace like the model. How fun!
ReplyDeleteI like rose and amethyst the best but they are all pretty. I also like the idea of letting the girls pick their color so they will all look and feel great in the best color for their complexion.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress you chose--I could totally see the girls re-wearing it as a fun, maxi dress to a summer event! And I really like the idea of mixed colors for bridesmaids, however, you could run into the dilemma of the numbers not adding up (what if all but a few of the girls prefer a certain color and then there's an odd-maid out?)
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask you yesterday how the color choosing was coming and if you'd found somewhere that carries them. Lovvvving the soft colors!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an AWESOME dress and I'd be thrilled to wear that in a girlfriend's wedding. Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteMy girls all wore the same dress, but my sister is allowing us to pick our own dress in a shade of peach/coral for her wedding this fall.
I love the dress and I love the different colors in the last picture!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the winner - it looks like the dress Kristin Cav for to Heidi and Spencer's wedding that I have stalked ever since! i like champagne dresses too and, I'm old school - I like it all the same but, I know whatever you pick it's gonna be amaze!
ReplyDeleteYEAH WEDDING WEDNESDAY! Blogging about weddings (and talking about them) becomes addicting. I would love to see your neutral colors matched with different shades of gray or light pink bridesmaid dresses!!! Champagne dresses are gorg!!! Love the pick!!! Keep it comin bride-y
ReplyDeleteOk, first: I simply ADORE, and I mean adore with a capital A, the bridesmaid dresses! Second: you said you wanted soft colors for your wedding and I think champange (the right hue of it) would be perfect for your wedding! Nude would be, well too nude - stick with your first choice of champange, which would go amazing with your pink/green/gold color choices. Third: I'm a matchy matchy girl, so I would stick with the same color for all of the girls dresses. Fourth: I am so excited for you! I love all things weddings so have a super great time planning; can't wait to see what you choose! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the style of both of the blue dresses you posted. Very flattering for different shapes. I wanted something not so bridesmaidsy as well so I ended up ordering something kind of sundressy from a designer on etsy. I like the look of different colored dresses of the same style. All those soft colors would look so good together!
ReplyDeleteI think your runner up dress is my bridesmaids dress. Who makes it? Mine is Bill Levkov. I like the one you picked too! And I've seen a few pictures on pinterest of the different bridesmaids dresses colors and I like the idea. I decided to go all eggplant, but with the light colors that you're looking at it could be really pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like the mixed colors too! But if you're going to do that, someone up above said only 3 colors...but with your number of girls, I'd say everyone in a different color! The dress comes in enough soft colors to extend the palette :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm the one who told Steph to suggest Toast Bridal to you...she said you read the reviews and it was kinda scary so I went in search for the reviews too. I must admit, it was a bit scary, but i think I'm willing to take my chances! I'll let Steph/you know how it goes- dresses will be ordered probably next month!!
I love the dress you chose! And I'm all about the neutral color palette. I even like all of the different colors together, minus the green one... I'd say let the girls decide what color they want to wear. Everyone looks different in different dresses, and you'll want to make sure they look their best :)
ReplyDeleteTanks for linking up today my dear!
xoxo,
Joelle
I vote: cameo and I definitely say YES to mixing colors!
ReplyDeleteFound you through wedding wednesday :)
My bouquet will be very much the same but with succulents and a bit of hot pink thrown in there ! My bridesmaids will be wearing soft soft pink. Personally, I'd go with what your heart feels is best. If the girls feel washed out they will get spray tans ! Soft is always better. If you want a romantic look xxx
ReplyDeleteThe different colors and designs of the bridesmaid dress is shared was nice. I have enjoyed by spending time on it. This post may be helpful for other wedding planning people. The engaged people may use the wedding planner iPhone app to know the dress vendors nearby area and also helpful for your wedding planning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great post:) Bridesmaid dresses are very beautiful hot pink prom dresses
ReplyDeleteHey I'm new to your blog and also planning my wedding. I'm liking the mixed colours as long as the style is the same so guests can definitely tell who's a bridesmaid easily
ReplyDeletewow Green Bridesmaid Dresses are very nice, with a simple design makes women look casual;)
