Friday Five.

Another Friday is here. Possibly the best day of the week, knowing that the weekend is just hours away. We've got a jam packed next couple of days, which I'm sure will make the weekend fly by.

{one}
I received a sample of the Philosophy Hope in a Jar in the mail recently and tried it out this week. I wanted to love it (it smells AMAZING) but it didn't surpass my beloved Clinique Moisture Surge Intense . I use it twice a day and love how it feels on my face. Just the right thickness and doesn't make me feel greasy.

Sadly there was a shooting at my alma mater yesterday morning. An apparent murder-suicide between a professor and his ex-wife (thank you to Dana for updating me with the facts!). So senseless. You always see these awful things on the news but never expect it to happen to somewhere so close to your heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to both families.

After all of the talk and excitement about finding a mirror for our living room, I drove all the way (it's somewhat of a hike from where I live) to Hobby Lobby on Wednesday, only to find that all 3 mirrors that they had in stock were damaged in one way or another. So disappointing. The mirror search continues......

Charleston ladies, I spotted a Kate Spade dress at Marshall's in West Ashley on Wednesday for THIRTEEN DOLLARS. It's a size Large and it does have a small spot or two (probably just a little make-up from someone trying it on and that will most likely come out in the wash). But it's $13!!!

As I mentioned above, we've got a jam packed weekend. It's pretty much all about Lane, and I love it! Tonight we are babysitting sweet Lane while his parents enjoy an oyster roast. Saturday I'll be in the kitchen baking some cookies for Lane's 1st birthday party, then switching my apron for a cocktail dress later in the day, as we'll be celebrating a friend's engagement. Sunday is Lane's 1st birthday party and also one of Cameron's brother's birthdays! We are going to be so pooped Sunday night.

Friday Five {Navy Blue Headboards!}

Last week I mentioned that I'm wanting to finish up our master bedroom with a headboard and matching bedside tables. I originally thought that I wanted a light tan headboard, but since seeing multiple photos of navy blue headboards, I think I've changed my mind.

It's hard not to be swayed after seeing these pictures...

And just for fun, let's just throw this chest from Joss & Main in the cart, too.

Happy weekend!

Friday Five!

Hello, Happy Friday, and Happy Halloween!

It's been a while, but let's catch up on five fun things that have been going on since you last heard from me.

{one}
Did you know gorgeous flowers grew in volcanoes? Call me naive, but I did not know that. Until The Bouqs Company contacted me wanted to send me fresh flowers! Now I don't know any girl (other than one with horrible allergies) that would turn that offer down.

Bouqs is an online company that ships beautiful fresh flowers straight from a volcano in South America or the coast of California straight to your home - for FREE! The shipping is free, that is, not the flowers. The bouquets from South America come in 3 different sizes, as well, ranging in price from $40 - $70.

I ordered the Desperado bouquet and was so excited to open them when I arrived to work. I opened the package and followed the instructions on the box, which told me how to get the maximum life out of my bouquet. Ones you may or may not already know - cut the stems at an angle, discard any leaves lower than the water level as well as any "guard" petals, and keep in clean water, out of direct sunlight.

Very, very impressed with this company and will definitely be using them again.

Want to try Bouqs? Register on their site and you'll receive a 15% discount for your first order along with their already free shipping!

I was so impressed my flowers and this company that I sent a bouquet of pink ranunculus to my friend, Jenny, for her 30th birthday! She received them on the 17th and she texted me last night saying that they were still blooming!

Do you have an extra second to help my stinky dog?
I entered him in a costume contest through his vet's Facebook page and he desperately needs your votes! The winning pup gets a day at the spa and just trust me when I say, he needs it.

You don't have to "like" the FB page or even register to be able to vote, you just literally click this link and then click the box next to his picture! So easy and he needs all of the help he can get because he's losing by like 30 votes! Thanks, friends!

Last week, Cameron had to go to Charlotte for a business meeting. Luckily my new job is super flexible so I was able to join him! We left a little after lunch time on Wednesday and came back Thursday after lunch.

Wednesday night, we ate at Cowfish, which we had never been to before. It is a burger-sushi fusion restaurant, with a humongous menu. We started with the ahi tuna nachos, which were flavorul, light and very satisfying. Cameron ordered a "side" spinach salad, which was HUGE, and also ordered a roll off of the "Burgushi" menu. The Doug's Filet Roll which is basically a standard sushi roll filled with avocado, crab, and cream cheese, and is then topped with thinly sliced filet mignon. Yum! I ordered one of the bento boxes, which lets you try a little of everything. It came with a mini burger of the day (jalepeno cream cheese and fried jalepeno slices), 4 pieces of sushi, Thai cucumbers, edamame, and french fries. Needless to say, we were stuffed and said no thank you to dessert.

Thursday morning, Cameron went to his meeting and I went browsing around the Southpark Mall (first time there!). I only had two hours to look around, and I didn't even put a dent in going to some of the stores that I wanted to. And actually the only thing that I bought for myself was a make-up brush...which I'm returning because I wound up not liking it. I did get some Christmas shopping done though!

Once Cameron was done with his meeting, we met up with Beth and April for lunch at Bricktops. Another amazing restaurant! I ordered a salad with seared tuna on it, as I am on an obvious tuna kick. It's always so great to see these girls!

Two weekends ago, Cameron and I co-hosted a floating engagement party for our friends, Jenny and Justin, who are getting married in June! The weather was absolutely perfect that evening. We kept it simple with wings, turkey wraps, crab dip, and a cheese platter, along with beer and wine. Good times were had by all...and some more than others. :)

Last Saturday we celebrated my Aunt Cindy's 50th birthday at her and my uncle's house. We celebrated with her three favorite things: Carolina football (even though we lost), Ã©touffée, and family/friends.

Can't wait to see everyone's Halloween costumes!

Five on Friday is Back!

Five things that are making me happy on this sunny Friday...

{one}
Brady got to go to work with me on Wednesday. Once a week I have to go out to my properties and do walk-throughs to look for issues, make sure contractors are working, etc.

Came across this beast, then a few minutes later a turkey.
Gotta love Kiawah's wildlife.

And took a stroll on the beach.
I love his fluffy tail.

This weekend, the low's are going to be in the low 50's! Where in the world did that come from?!? I'm not complaining though. Can't wait for some backyard fire pit fires.

{four}
Now that it's out in the open, I'm so happy to announce that our friends, Jessica & Jason, are expecting a baby in early April! So excited for these two!!

Fresh flowers in the house

What are your plans for the weekend?
We're doing the Dream Center walk tomorrow morning (my grandmother volunteers there), watching a lot of football on Saturday, and ending the weekend with a family dinner at my parent's on Sunday.

Friday Five {Current Beauty Favorites}.

Good morning and Happy Friday!
This week flew by and I am not complaining about it one bit. It helped that I had an extra day off yesterday so that I could take Brady to the vet and do a much-needed, massive cleaning to our house.

Below are some of my favorite beauty products that I'm using right now, a lot of them being products that will be purchased over and over again.

{one}
This is, no lie, the first moisturizer that I've purchased more than once. I've finally found my perfect fit, moisturizer wise. I use it in the morning and at night, and it does not leave my face greasy, nor dry. It's more expensive than my frugal self would like to spend on a moisturizer, but it lasts for months and since everyone sees my face, why not take good care of it?

{two}
Smells amazing, plus it makes your hair super soft. What more could you want?

{three}
I received a sample of this when I purchased my Clinique moisturizer above, and I am in love. I really don't know how to explain the smell of it, other than it smells amazing. Not too strong, not too soft. Not too sweet, not too musky. Juuuuuuust right.

{four}
I was sent a bottle of this dry shampoo from Influenster. I use dry shampoo often, having to be at work by 6:45am, so I like my dry shampoo to be inexpensive, but get the job done. The Herbal Essence dry shampoo fits the bill for both. And it smells nice, not all chemically like the Suave that I normally use. There are a lot of negative reviews out there about the packaging and the bottle getting clogged up after one or two uses, but I have not experienced that yet. Try it out, it might just be your new favorite!

{five}
I use this every other day and will purchase over and over again. My face has become more sensitive lately and this product does not irritate my skin. Leaving it super soft.

Helpful tip - I always buy the sample size of new products I want to try, if possible. That way, if I wind up not liking the product, I haven't wasted too much money.

What are your favorite beauty products that you purchase time after time?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Friday Five {Monogram Frenzy, Boxcar Betty's, The Citadel, Garden + Oat My Goodness}.

Happy Friday, y'all!
I am SO glad it's here because I, for once, don't have to work this weekend! Tonight we'll probably just keep it low key, tomorrow night we have supper club, and Sunday we'll be celebrating our Dads!

{one}
I don't know what came over me, but I went on a bit of a monogram frenzy over the past two weeks.
{two}
As mentioned yesterday, I went with a couple of girls to Boxcar Betty's last night, a new restaurant in West Ashley. I wound up ordering the blue cheese and buffalo sandwich. It was good, but next time I would order extra blue cheese. I couldn't taste it at all. I definitely had sandwich envy over Caroline's Boxcar sandwich, which had pimento cheese, peach slaw, homemade pickles, and spicy mayo.

We inhaled our sandwiches so fast and weren't quite ready to go home yet, so we stopped by Triangle for a drink.
Peach sangrias and a watermelon rita

I helped a friend coordinate her wedding last Saturday and before the ceremony, which was at the Citadel, I got Emily to snap a picture of me in this very special chair. You see, this chair that sits on the alter in the Citadel's chapel, is dedicated to my great grandfather, Capt. Justus Alvin Tiedemann. He graduated from the Citadel and then went on to become a professor there. Pretty special.

{four}
I was able to pick my first veggies from my garden yesterday! As I was picking them, I knew exactly what recipe I would use these cucumbers for - the chilled garlic soy cucumber recipe that Katie posted yesterday. Will let y'all know how it is!

{five}
I was lucky enough to win Jillian's Oat My Goodness granola giveaway and I'm so glad I did. I am hooked. I got to choose 2 of the flavors so I picked Bad Monkey (peanut butter, chocolate, banana combo) and Sunrise (orange, coffee, mango, and macadamia nuts). I knew for sure I was going to like the Bad Monkey better, but surprisingly, I could not stop eating the Sunrise. This granola is available on their website and for you locals, it's available at Southern Season in Mt. Pleasant.
(Yes, Stephanie, that means I'm going to ask you to bring me some.)

Enjoy your weekends!
