Friday Five!

Hello, Happy Friday, and Happy Halloween!

It's been a while, but let's catch up on five fun things that have been going on since you last heard from me.

{one}
Did you know gorgeous flowers grew in volcanoes? Call me naive, but I did not know that. Until The Bouqs Company contacted me wanted to send me fresh flowers! Now I don't know any girl (other than one with horrible allergies) that would turn that offer down.

Bouqs is an online company that ships beautiful fresh flowers straight from a volcano in South America or the coast of California straight to your home - for FREE! The shipping is free, that is, not the flowers. The bouquets from South America come in 3 different sizes, as well, ranging in price from $40 - $70.

I ordered the Desperado bouquet and was so excited to open them when I arrived to work. I opened the package and followed the instructions on the box, which told me how to get the maximum life out of my bouquet. Ones you may or may not already know - cut the stems at an angle, discard any leaves lower than the water level as well as any "guard" petals, and keep in clean water, out of direct sunlight.

Very, very impressed with this company and will definitely be using them again.

Want to try Bouqs? Register on their site and you'll receive a 15% discount for your first order along with their already free shipping!

I was so impressed my flowers and this company that I sent a bouquet of pink ranunculus to my friend, Jenny, for her 30th birthday! She received them on the 17th and she texted me last night saying that they were still blooming!

Do you have an extra second to help my stinky dog?
I entered him in a costume contest through his vet's Facebook page and he desperately needs your votes! The winning pup gets a day at the spa and just trust me when I say, he needs it.

You don't have to "like" the FB page or even register to be able to vote, you just literally click this link and then click the box next to his picture! So easy and he needs all of the help he can get because he's losing by like 30 votes! Thanks, friends!

Last week, Cameron had to go to Charlotte for a business meeting. Luckily my new job is super flexible so I was able to join him! We left a little after lunch time on Wednesday and came back Thursday after lunch.

Wednesday night, we ate at Cowfish, which we had never been to before. It is a burger-sushi fusion restaurant, with a humongous menu. We started with the ahi tuna nachos, which were flavorul, light and very satisfying. Cameron ordered a "side" spinach salad, which was HUGE, and also ordered a roll off of the "Burgushi" menu. The Doug's Filet Roll which is basically a standard sushi roll filled with avocado, crab, and cream cheese, and is then topped with thinly sliced filet mignon. Yum! I ordered one of the bento boxes, which lets you try a little of everything. It came with a mini burger of the day (jalepeno cream cheese and fried jalepeno slices), 4 pieces of sushi, Thai cucumbers, edamame, and french fries. Needless to say, we were stuffed and said no thank you to dessert.

Thursday morning, Cameron went to his meeting and I went browsing around the Southpark Mall (first time there!). I only had two hours to look around, and I didn't even put a dent in going to some of the stores that I wanted to. And actually the only thing that I bought for myself was a make-up brush...which I'm returning because I wound up not liking it. I did get some Christmas shopping done though!

Once Cameron was done with his meeting, we met up with Beth and April for lunch at Bricktops. Another amazing restaurant! I ordered a salad with seared tuna on it, as I am on an obvious tuna kick. It's always so great to see these girls!

Two weekends ago, Cameron and I co-hosted a floating engagement party for our friends, Jenny and Justin, who are getting married in June! The weather was absolutely perfect that evening. We kept it simple with wings, turkey wraps, crab dip, and a cheese platter, along with beer and wine. Good times were had by all...and some more than others. :)

Last Saturday we celebrated my Aunt Cindy's 50th birthday at her and my uncle's house. We celebrated with her three favorite things: Carolina football (even though we lost), étouffée, and family/friends.

Can't wait to see everyone's Halloween costumes!

Our Weekend {Girls Happy Hour, Ashton's 1st Birthday, Lunch with April + Camille}

Happy first day of Fall, y'all!
As much as I LOVE summertime, I am ready for some steady temps in the 70's. Pair the (rainy) first day of Fall with Cameron feeling under the weather, and I am counting down the hours until I get home to make some tomato basil bisque for dinner tonight.

Here's what kept us busy this weekend...

Friday after work, I met up with some friends at Republic because Savannah was in town! They have a pretty awesome happy hour and a nice patio area. It was so nice to just go out with the girls for a change and I'm sure the momma's enjoyed being out for a few hours without a baby attached to their hips. After Republic, we walked a few doors down to Rarebit because for some reason we were all craving a juicy cheeseburger. These burgers did not disappoint and they were accompanied by moscow mules all around!

After dinner, we stopped by Jeni's for a sweet treat. Emily & I split a cup and although there are a ton of crazy (but good) flavors to choose from, I went with my go-to flavor of coffee. Emily went a little more adventurous with the sweet cream biscuits & peach jam.

Saturday, we went to Ashton's 1st birthday party! When I say that there were a lot of babies there, I mean there were a LOT of babies there. You had to be careful where you stepped because they were everywhere. haha. It was so fun celebrating Ashton and seeing a lot of people, and their babies who I had never met, that I hadn't seen in a while.  When we were leaving, we saw the most amazing rainbow! It was the brightest one I've ever seen.

After Ashton's party, we came back to our house to watch our football games that were basically on at the same time. We had a pretty sweet set up, and yes, Cameron's game got the big screen since it was a bigger game than ours.

Sunday was not our typical day of rest. We're hosting supper club at our house on Sunday, so we decided to tackle some projects around the house that we've been putting off. (Does anyone else love hosting people at their house just for the fact that that's the only time your house gets really clean and projects get complete? Or is that just us?) We ran to Lowe's in the morning, I cleaned up my garden area, and Cameron replaced some wood on our porch roof that was rotted. I snuck away for a little while to have lunch with April, sweet baby Camille, and April's mom at Jim n Nicks. As expected, Camille was the sweetest, smiliest, little thing. Also as expected, I got April and her mom hooked on Jim n Nicks famous cheese biscuits. :)

Once I returned home, I was put back to work, but it's all worth it in the end when our yard and house are looking good!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekends, as well!

It's Eclectic!

Last night, two of Charleston's favorite bloggers, Natalie and Caycee, co-hosted a blogger meet up at a home decor store in Mt. Pleasant called Eclectic. I'm always nervous when going to these types of things, because I never know what to expect. Luckily, there was wine there to calm my nerves.

The best word to describe Electic, is just that - eclectic! I saw everything from nautical to luxurious to whimsical decor. Sidney, the owner, was a gracious host and very easy to talk to.

Here were some of my favorite items:

I borrowed this picture, taken by Olivia Rae James, because it's 100x better than what my Iphone would have taken. This fabric immediately caught my eye because it's the same fabric that my mom used for her window treatments in her dining room.
Go Mom! So fashionable.

Oh, and we let Ryan Gosling hang out even though he isn't a blogger.

I can't wait to go back and look at each piece more in depth, and bring something home with me!
Next time you're in Mt. Pleasant, definitely pop into the store, you never know what you're going to find! Until then, check out their Facebook page!

Sweet Tea & Stilettos

Today I've been asked to guest post for Hannah at Sweet Tea & Stilettos while she is away relaxing in the mountains with her hubby, Bryan! It's my first guest post ever so I was a little nervous when she asked me. I didn't know what to talk about!

On another quick note, I had a blast at the Charleston blogger meet up last Thursday at Social and I can't wait for the next one! Thank you so much to Kim for coordinating it (and letting me borrow a pic)!!
