Back to Five Question Friday!

I've been a little slack with my Five Question Friday's lately..I know all of you were just DYING to read another one. :) Go to My Little Life if you'd like to join and link up!

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?

Plain ol' brown. Why couldn't I have just been born a blonde? Would have saved a me LOT of money.

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?

Not really. It's usually planned for me between work weddings and personal weddings/showers, I really don't have time for much else. I'll be lucky to get in 5 boat days this year.

3. What is your favorite meal to cook?

Anything that is easy with 5 or less ingredients! Want to send me your favorite??

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?

At first I was going to say yes. If I take time out of my schedule (and money out of my wallet) to buy you a present, I think you can be nice enough to send me a simple thank you note. But then I thought about it. How many times have I forgotten to send a simple thank you note? Lots of times I'm sure. Even though I have a TON of blank stationery and thank you notes. I plan to be better about it, promise!

5. How did you meet your best friend?

Chi Omega! We pledged the same sorority our freshman year of college. There were 4 of us that were always together. Me, Emily, Jenny and Jordan.
Jenny, Emily, Jordan, Me

Mock Rush Tea 2004 (The girl with the short blonde hair is my big sis, Amy!)

Five Question Friday!

What's the best thing about Five Question Friday?? Um, the fact that it's FRIDAY!
No big plans for the weekend. Going to the Charleston Boat Show tomorrow and working Sunday.  I'm actually looking forward to working on Sunday because that means I get to catch up on my reality tv! :)

1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?

Ha, you want the short version or the long version? Well, I'll tell you both and you can decide how much you want to read. :)

Short version - We met through a mutual friend, Joe. I went to high school with him and Cameron lived with him in college.

Extended version - I don't know why, but I'm sometimes shy / a little embarrassed to tell this story, even though I shouldn't be. Anyway, so a group of guys called the Palmetto Society have a big oyster roast every year (among other events) to raise money for a local charity. I got invited to the event via Facebook, confirmed that I would be attending and then was looking to see who else would be there.

I came across a rather handsome young man and being the nosy curious type of person that I am, I clicked on his profile. I saw that he was from the Charleston area and we had a LOT of mutual friends. One of our mutual friends, Joe, had recently gotten married so I decided to send him a congratulatory message and then at the end of the message, squeezed in the fact that I thought his friend Cameron was attractive. :)

A few days had gone by, Joe had written me back thanking me for the message and that he would put in a good word for me to Cameron. The nerves started to kick in. What if he didn't think I was pretty? (I immediately changed my profile picture to what I thought was the best one of me.) What if he was already dating someone? I waited and waited to hear something and then on Saturday, November 15, 2008 while I was getting ready to go watch the USC vs. Florida football game at a friend's house, I checked my Facebook and there was a message in my inbox...

It said "Just wanted to say hi to my new friend..." (I still have it saved in my inbox, btw.)

I tried not to respond too quickly, but I only held out for 17 minutes. Way to play it cool, Megan.

He was all I could think about during the game..which turned out to be a good thing because the Gators kicked our butts. Went home after the game and immediately checked my FB to see if I had a new message. I did! I already had plans to go out that night so I sent him a message back, giving him my phone number and told him to call me if he wanted to meet up. No shame in my game!

Playing cornhole during halftime. Hours before I met Cameron for the first time. :)
He texted me later to see where I was hanging out, and we decided to meet up at Johnson's. On the walk there, my friends decided that they wanted to go to Trio, but I wasn't going to let that stop me! I went to Johnson's by myself. While I was walking in, I ran into a group of guy friends and in that mix, happened to be my most recent ex. We didn't date that long and it wasn't an awful breakup so it wasn't that awkward, but it did make me a little nervous. I was scared he was going to try to interfere if he knew why I was there.

I went to go sit at the bar to wait on Cameron and his friends, and Taylor (name has been changed) sat next to me. "Oh GREAT", I thought. We chatted for a little bit and then I looked to my right - there was Cameron. Butterflies! Nervousness! I went up to him and hugged him as I said hello. I don't know why I did it, but it just felt natural.

I went and sat back down next to Taylor* because I didn't want to be rude (his friends had also left at this point), Cameron came, too. Here I was, sandwiched between an ex and a guy that I liked. AWKWARD!! I didn't mention to either of them who the other guy was, other than their names, because that would have caused tension and again, awkwardness.

After the bar, Cameron invited me over to his place because him and some friends were going to be hanging out. I went, played Mario Kart on the Wii, and I went home around 5am.

Earlier in the night I mentioned that I really wanted to go skeet shooting. Well, Cameron invited me to go the very next day at his parents house with about 10 of his friends. And the rest is history.........

Sorry for SUCH a long answer..this probably could have been a post in its own. If you've made it this far, props to you.

2. What is your favorite room in your house?

The living room. It's the hub of the house. TV to watch, couch to lay on with a comfy blanket and a fireplace to warm me up = perfection.

3. Can you wiggle your ears?

No, and I probably looked ridiculous trying to see if I could.

4. What is your evening ritual?

Come home from work, change into comfy clothes, clean up if need be, cook dinner, watch tv, brush teeth (always) / wash face (sometimes), get under 53058483 blankets and go to sleep. Sometimes I'll take a shower the night before work if I have to be there super early.

5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?

7-8. More if I could. I like my sleep. A lot.

TGIF / 5QF!

Happy Friday, y'all! I could not believe my eyes when I cranked up my car this morning!
Toto, I have a feeling we're not in South Carolina anymore.
Oprah wouldn't probably not approve of me snapping that pic with my phone while I was driving 45 mph.

This weekend we have no plans on the books, yet, which is a very nice thing every once and a while. A few guaranteed things are sleeping in and working on the house. Sounds very familiar.

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of?

Are you ready for this? Major Payne. It has been my favorite movie since I can't remember when. I can recite every line and I laugh prior to the funny parts because I know what it going to happen. I really can't explain to you why I love the movie so much.

Close runner-ups are Remember the Titans, The Notebook, Love Actually (VERY close second place), The Lion King and pretty much any Pixar movie.

2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now?

Slow drivers on Bohicket Rd!! Was just thinking about posting a rant post about this yesterday.

People, I know it's a narrow, scary road, but the speed limit is 50 so if you go UNDER the speed limit, I WILL be riding your a**.

3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?

Caring. Beautiful. Supportive. Shopaholic. Giving.

4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?

Stay at home mom!...when I become one.

5. What is your one "splurge" item, that you will always buy, no matter the cost?

I don't think I really have one. If you know me, you'll know that I'm not much of a splurger. If I do splurge on things, it's because I have a gift card for it so it's not like I'm using "real money." :)

Five Question FRIDAY!

Happy Friday, friends! I'm very surprised that the first week back to work after the holidays went by so quickly. I've had to be at work at 7am almost every day this week, which means I like to go to sleep pretttty early. I couldn't even make it through Grey's last night. Maybe that's why the week has gone by so fast?

Don't really have big plans for the weekend other than SURPRISE: working on the house. This weekend I plan on finishing painting the hall bathroom cabinets. I'm using Behr paint in Beluga. I'm hoping that the dark contrast will give the mostly light bathroom a little something extra. :)

Looks great in their kitchen! source

Cameron's task for the weekend is getting all of the kitchen cabinets put back up, now that they're (finally) finished being painted. We're having people over for dinner on Wednesday and I'm really stressing out about how un-finished the house is. There's only so much we can do / afford right now though so I'm trying not to let it stress me out toooo much.

On that note, for dinner on Wednesday there will be four couples. Cameron and I were thinking of doing something simple, like making four different types of pizzas (thank you old-skool double oven for coming in handy!) with a salad. For all you foodies out there, please email me your favorite pizza recipes! Next week also just so happens to be National Pizza Week! Thank you Hungry Girl daily emails for that little tidbit.

1. What is your current favorite book, and why?

I can't say I have one at the moment. I've been really bad about reading lately. Anyone want to suggest a good book to try??

2. Do you go to the dentist regularly?

I do, thanks to my momma being a dental hygienist! (After 27 years of her being one, I still can't remember how to spell it. Thank you spell check.) Every six months I make the trek to Summerville to get my pearly whites cleaned.

3. What is your worst memory from High School?

I had to think long and hard about this one. All in all I loved high school! I had great friends, was involved in cheerleading and soccer and I had a crappy lovely car!

I thought of two memories that I wish never happened.

(Mom, don't let Dad read this and if you do, tell him to grab a tissue first.)
The first one is when I found out my Aunt Sharlene had breast cancer. I can't remember what I wore to work yesterday, but I can remember memories like these very vividly. I believe it was my senior year. I walked into my parents bedroom before school one morning and my Dad was sitting on the edge of his bed, on the phone. He looked upset. I waited until he got off the phone to ask him what was going on and that's when he broke the news to me. I remember him crying, which of course always makes me cry, but I don't think I really knew exactly what cancer was and exactly what it meant for my aunt.

(Mom, don't be mad. :)  )
The second memory is of a night during my sophomore year I think. I think it was my sophomore year because I was driving, but I wasn't supposed to be driving at night. I told my parents I was staying the night at Jennie's house (which was the truth). After I got over there, we found out that everyone was going over to J.K.'s (who was infamous for having parties) house for a party. Was I allowed to leave Jennie's house and drive over there? No. Did I? Yes. And on the way there, Karma bit me in the butt.  I'm sad to say, I hit a dog. Now I am a dog LOVER, as if you can't already tell from my blog, so this DEVASTATED me. He came out of no where. I wasn't even speeding! Promise! I pulled my car over in shock and to find him/her. He/she was no where to be found. I kept/keep telling myself that since I couldn't find it, it probably was ok to run off back to its owner's house. Right?? We still went to J.K's party, our faces red and drenched from crying. I looked at the front of my car and on the corner, there was blood and hair. It makes me tear up just typing about it. Two friends at the party took my car to a near-by car wash and cleaned it up for me. I'm sure they don't even remember doing that, but I do, and it was much appreciated. I didn't tell my parents, but waited for them to notice the damage and of course acted as if I had no idea what happened. Sorry Mom & Dad!! Or did yall already know this??

Wow, that was a long answer.

4. What do you hope to be remembered for in your life?

I hope that people will remember me as being a good friend. And eventually, for being a good mom / wife.

5. Are you superstitious or do you have any superstitions?

I am somewhat. I kiss the clock when it says 11:11, 5:55, etc. I won't walk under a ladder. If a black cat runs in front of my car, I gasp. I used to think I had a lucky bikini when I went fishing. Turns out, it wasn't.

I will, however, step on cracks. And occasionally open an umbrella indoors.

Christmas Themed 5QF!

TGIF! This week draaaaaagged on. Tuesday felt like Wednesday, Wednesday felt like Thursday and so on. BUT it's Friday now and that's all that matters!

This weekends events include...

Tonight - Cooking a yummy dinner for Cameron to celebrate him getting his MBA from the Citadel

Saturday - Getting my hair did by Kady, picking up our new couch (yay!!), and an oyster roast.
Please disregard the hideous Southwestern pillows.

Sunday - Painting kitchen cabinets (second and hopefully final coat) and hopefully lazy couch time! Super exciting, I know.

1. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Both! We go to my step-grandmother's Christmas party on Christmas Eve for a few hours and open our presents from her, then we go to my Grandma Charlotte's house for dinner with my dad's side of the family and open presents from that side of the family.

Christmas day we (mom, dad, sister) wake up and open presents from each other, mom cooks breakfast casserole and people drop in, then we head to my Grandma Anna's house for an early dinner with my mom's side of the family and open presents from them. And after that we (Cameron & I) make our final stop to Cameron's parents house for yet another meal and more presents. A great, yet tiring, day!

2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie (or candy)?
Candy canes have always been a favorite of mine. I love all things peppermint!

3. What's the worst Christmas gift you've ever received?
I don't think I can share this info juuuuuust in case the person that gave me the gift stumbles across my blog. ;) It was a family member and they were shoes. That's all I'm saying. How can someone go wrong with a pair of shoes, you ask? Oh, how I wish I could show you!

4. Christmas song that you love?
I don't even have to think about this one!! Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas." Even when it's not Christmastime, I love this song! It makes me do a happy dance.

5. How many trees do you put up?
One is all I need.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

100th Post & 5 Question Friday!

Happy Friday! It is COLD here in Charleston today! Thank goodness I switched cars with my mom for the weekend (she's taking mine to ATL for the game) and her's has heated seats! It's the little things that make me happy.

If you've been living under a rock (or just don't care), the Gamecocks are going to play in the SEC Championship on Saturday against #1 ranked Auburn. PS - How awesome/exciting/amazing would it be for the Gamecocks to beat TWO #1 teams in the same season AND win the SEC Championship our very first time playing in it?!? Um, yes, it would be a pretty big deal. Fist pumps to my fellow Gamecock bloggy friends, Beth & Amanda! Xtina, you get no love in this post because you love every Tiger team. Boo on you.

1. What's on the top of your holiday wish list and why?!

This beauty..
Michael Kors Jet Set Tortoise watch
Along with gift cards to Target, Home Depot (what?) and other stores I can buy house stuff at.

2. What is your favorite Christmas gift from the past?

That's a really tough one. Like I've mentioned, I have the worst memory.

3. If you had life to do over, what would you be when you grow up?

I don't even know what I want to do now "when I grow up"! Emily and I have discussed this though. We want to be stay at home mom's and co-own our own cute gift shop on the side. Wishful thinking is always nice.

4. When do you put up your tree?

Don't really have a specific time or date..just whenever I have free time. Currently deciding on whether we should buy a real tree or a fake one.  There are pro's and con's to both.

5. What is your favorite Holiday?

Christmas for sure. Seeing all of my family, eating yummy food, celebrating the birth of Jesus, Christmas music, shopping for the perfect present to give and my birthday is 4 days later! :)

Five Question Friday!

Hi everyone! Hope yall enjoyed your Thanksgiving like I did! We went out to a t-tiny town outside of Bamberg called Olar to be with Cameron's family for the first half of the day, ate meal #1 and then made our way to Summerville to be with my family & eat meal #2. Thank goodness for flowy shirts. Here are a few pics my sister took..

Family pic..gotta love the self timer. And PS - No, I am not 6 ft tall, I was kneeling on a chair.
We both always wind up in this chair after dinner.

Brady tricks.

And the moment I'm sure you've ALL been waiting for, Five Question Friday...

1. What is your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal?

The turkey with my grandma's giblet gravy. YUM. And the green bean casserole, and the sweet potato casserole, and my Aunt Cindy's exxxxtra cheesy & bacon-y mashed potatoes. So apparently I can't just pick one. Good thing I have a plate of leftovers for lunch today :)

2. Are you a host or a guest for Thanksgiving this year?

Have always been a guest.  I assume that will be the case for many more years to come. Who knows though, maybe Cameron will want to host next year?? HA.

3. When you think of one Thanksgiving tradition, what comes to mind?

Just having all of my family under one roof. Watching football before and after dinner. And getting ready for the Carolina / Clemson game that always on the following Saturday!

4. You have two pieces of pie in front of you and you HAVE to eat one...do you choose pumpkin or pecan?

Definitely pumpkin. Don't like pecan pie. Possibly the one person that doesn't like it.

5. Are you a Black Friday Shopper?

Heck no. Not yet anyway. But this morning I was up at 5:30! Getting ready for work...booo.....
4.5 more hours to go at work and then Cameron & I are headed to Clemson! Can't wait!

Hope you enjoy your weekend! And as always, GO COCKS!

Five Question Friday!

Hiii everyone! Not a whole lot to talk about today..this week has gone by super slow! Have a wedding tomorrow for work that I'm really excited about! They are an older couple but they definitely know how to have a good time! For example, they are hiring a band called Loose Chain that is definitely one of my favorite wedding bands...and totally the opposite of what band I would picture them hiring. I Googled the band to show yall a video of them and came across my sorority sister's wedding! How crazy is that?! This link doesn't really show the band in action, but it shows you how packed the dance floor was and how much fun everyone was having. The wedding planner, Luke Wilson, is amazing, too, as you will see!

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

"We Three Kings"..just can't get into it, sorry.  It's not that its too mellow for me because I like other mellow Christmas songs. Just have never liked it.

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

I'd love to say "oh we cuddle all night long!" but let's get serious, who does that? I need my own space. I like to go to bed a lot earlier than him so he'll stay up watching tv in the bed. I'll lay my head on his chest and make ask him to play with my hair (he might kill me for saying that) and I may or may not fall asleep then. When it's time for me to really go to sleep, I turn my back to him. That doesn't sound very loving, but it's true. We'll sleep our separate ways most of the night and then cuddle again in the morning before it's time to get up and get moving.

3. Have you ever had surgery?

I think I had surgery of some sort on my ear drums (?) when I was younger. Also had surgery in March that if you know me, you know what it is. That's all though! Never broken a bone (knock on wood).

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

Whenever I can and have the funds to do so. Which means I usually spread it out over November & December. I've already purchased 4 gifts so far! Two from Etsy (sorry, can't show you until after Christmas because the recipients read my blog).

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

This is a tough one...either a car that I want rather than just a car I can afford.  Or maybe an unlimited budget to fix up the new house! Hmmm...or maybe a live in make-up artist / hairdresser to make me look good every single day!

Five Question Friday! + Weekend Events

So, today started out normal..went to see my friend Kady for a haircut at 10, went across the street to the mall food court to pick up lunch to bring to work,  saw Cameron's sister-in-law, Kara, and talked to her for a bit and then started on my 40 minute trek to work.

Let me set the scene..the road that takes up the majority of my trip is a two-lane road with lots and lots of trees. Trees that come *this close* to the road and if you're not paying attention, would be very easy to hit. Those trees aren't involved in the story though. Just trying to help you paint a picture in your mind. :) Anyway, the two lane highway eventually turns into a four-lane highway.

So I get about five minutes past the part where it turns into a four-lane highway and all of the sudden I see this guy laying on his back really close to the road next to his bicycle. Then I see a truck pulled over on the side of the road. So I pull over to see if they need help (and I'll admit it, I'm nosy). I didn't know if they guy had fallen off of his bike or what. I get closer and the (older) lady who drove the truck told me to call 911. Apparently, she had hit him with her truck! I don't think it was head on or anything because one of her side mirrors was messed up. He was awake and had scooted away from the road and was sitting up. Was shaking a bit, probably due to the adrenaline....I sure was! Didn't seem to have any major injuries..said his back and wrist hurt. His head was bleeding a bit. I waited until the ambulance came and got him on board. Was told by the EMS guy that since I didn't actually witness it happening I didn't have to stay. So I wrote down my contact information for the lady and told her to call me if she needed anything.

So, a super scary start to my day. I just hope he's ok and she is ok, as well!

Tomorrow will be spent helping Cameron move the rest of his smaller belongings from his old place to the house! Carpet was installed yesterday and the glass in the master shower, too! It's officially move-in-able. Then, that evening, we'll be going to an engagement party for my friend Kady (yes, hair Kady) and her fiance, Kyle. Yes, the Carolina vs. Florida game will be on the tv. For the record, I was not rude and asked..she brought it up. :)

I used to drive Kyle home from school for a little while in high school and Kady was actually good friends with my sister while they were growing up. Fast forward a few years and I worked with Kady at Outback (side job) where we became close. They're getting married at the Boone Hall Cotton Dock in February, which is one of my favorite venues in Charleston.

These pics are back in 2008 keep in mind..

 Enough babbling..on to 5QF..

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?

That I remember - my friend Leslie slamming my middle finger in a car door in elementary school.

That I don't remember - probably getting a concussion in 2nd grade. I mean, I'm sure it couldn't have felt good if I hit my head so hard that I got a concussion.

2. How much sleep do you get at night?

No matter how much I get, I always feel like it's not enough. I could seriously lay in bed all day...every now and then. I usually go to bed around 10 and wake up around 5:30 or 6:30, depending on what time I have to be at work.

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you find out that he does not exist?

That would be a question for my mom, because I don't remember. Then again, she doesn't have the sharpest memory either. You know it's true, mom. I don't feel like I balled my eyes out or anything when I figured it out.

4. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?

Again, that would be a question for Cameron, because I don't remember...I think it was a funny movie though because I remember us laughing a lot.

5. What do you wear to bed?

Nothing. hahah jk Mom :) T-shirt and pj shorts/pants. Y'know, something realllly sexy like that.

Enjoy the rest of your Friday and weekend! :)
