Screened Porch Face Lift!

The screened porch face lift project that I briefly mentioned about a month ago is complete! It was actually complete by our goal date of Mother's Day, but I just got around to taking a picture of it and posting it.

The picture below is from the day that Cameron closed on the house 5 and a half years ago! Other than replacing the screened door, installing a fan, and adding some hand-me-down furniture, not much had been done to it until recently.

AFTER

We painted all of the wood and replaced the screens, then Cameron laid the tile down over the old concrete floor. Following that, we added all new furniture. We love how much brighter and more comfortable it is, and find ourselves eating outside more often than inside!

Renovated Guest Bathroom.

Cameron and I are always looking around to see if there are any houses on the market that we love and unfortunately, there aren't any out there in the area that we want to be in. We debated on building, but decided to hold off on that for now, as we couldn't find any lots that we loved either. So plan C was to renovate more of our house since we plan to be there for another 4-5 years. The first stop was the bathroom. We originally got a bid from a contractor, but decided we could save a lot of money by doing most of the work ourselves. I'm very lucky to have a handy husband! The only person we had to hire was a plumber because we were adding an additional sink.

Some photos that I used for inspiration...
The first picture stood out to me because the wall color was very similar to what was already in the bathroom, it had a glass front linen cabinet

The second picture I just loved the glass front linen cabinet that seems to have been re-purposed from a china cabinet or a similar type of furniture.

Cameron tearing out the old cabinets

Cabinets and old (huge) mirror gone)

Drywall removed for new plumbing and electrical to be installed. New tile and toilet installed.

I still need to order art for the walls, decide if I want to hang anything on the window, and eventually change out the hardware on the vanity.

I'm so happy with how it turned out though! Big shoutout to Cameron for installing all of the electrical, replacing the toilet, and laying the tile! And also dealing with my indecisiveness.

On to the next project!

How To Make Your Grout Look Brand New.

After living in our house for three years and trying every option under the sun to try to clean the grout in the hallway bathroom, I stumbled across this blog post from Young House Love and boy, am I glad I did!

I spread this project out over a few days so I didn't get totally burnt out on it. It was super easy - just clean your grout with a rag/brush and soap, let it dry, then paint on the grout renew with a paintbrush that you probably already have lying around your house! Have a cloth or tissue handy to quickly wipe up any mistakes (there will be).

This Grout Renew can be found at your local Home Depot for $11.97 and is available in a large amount of colors.

Over halfway done!
This was also the day that I discovered (by hearing running water) that we had a pipe burst under the house.
Fun.

Three Years on Tiffany - Living Room.

Back again this week with another installment of Three Years on Tiffany! Today I'll be showing you around the living room. It's obviously the room where we spend the most time, so I am constantly tweaking things in there to try get it just the way I like it. Yet, I still have more I want to do!

Here it is the day Cameron closed on the house.
A lovely shade of salmon.
The hardwood floors were in great condition, and we loved the brick fireplace!
Painted the walls a neutral tan.
Hung a sheet over the window until we bought curtain rods and curtains. Keepin' it classy!
Pay attention to this framed map. You will see it again.

Making some progress..

Couldn't decide on a large rug for the longest time, so the floors went bare for a while.
Hi Brady.

And pictures of how it looks today!
The map was re-framed and matted for our wedding guest book!

What I'd still like to do:
-Paint walls again, this time a lighter color.
-Buy a larger console table to go on wall under map.
-Couch pillows! I am so bad about pulling the trigger and buying some!
-Convince Cameron to put the owl in his office.

Three Years on Tiffany - The Office.

This month marks the 3rd year that Cameron and I have been in our house! It's crazy to think that's we've been living here that long, and even crazier to go back and look at pictures from when Cameron bought the house! Talk about a night and day difference.

So I thought it would be fun and show pictures of each room as they progressed, and how they look today!

This is how we found it.

Painted stripes in the laundry room in July of 2011, and new tile was installed by Cameron and Eric in December of 2011.

Desk purchased off of Craigslist in January of 2012.
I had the pleasure of hauling that thing inside with Cameron, which resulted in many chiropractor visits.

Diplomas finally framed and hung in February of 2012.
Added the bookshelf in March of 2012.
Finally looking like an office!

Added the curtains and the rug in July of 2012.

Moved the leather chair into the office in December of 2012 to make room for the Christmas tree, and decided we liked it better in there!

So here it is today!

Bookshelf - Target (in Espresso)
Desk - Craigslist
Leather chair - Old
Sheer curtains - Target
Blue curtains - World Market
Grass rug - Marshall's
Pillow - Pottery Barn
Cable knit blanket - Dillard's

Guest Bathroom: Before & After + Advice From You!

When Cameron first bought our house, let's just say, it was outdated. Yeah, that's the nice word for it, outdated.

Today I'm going to show y'all before and after pictures of the guest bathroom and then ask for some design advice. :)

So here it is how we found it..
Ah yes, the sun moon and star border and wallpaper.
Side note - I used to LOVE the Sun, Moon, and Star perfume back in the day. :)
PS - Did you notice that the cheap-o's took the light bulbs?!? They started taking those AND the outlet covers before we noticed and had to put a stop to it. Moving on...

The contractor re-did the bathtub, including removing the random tiled wall, and installed subway tile. We stripped the wallpaper and painted the walls.

My first dilemma was what the heck should I do with the cabinets? Painting them white was the obvious choice. Luckily, my friend, Jenny, spoke up and suggested black. I was really nervous about it, but I went for it. And I'm SO glad I did!

Here's where you come in, friends.
You see that HUMONGOUS mirror and those AWFUL bulb lights? Scroll back up and look, I'll wait.
Now what the heck do I do with that??
All thoughts and suggestions welcome!

A whole lotta randomness.

This weekend was a blast..and I paid for it on Sunday.

Saturday I woke up bright and early, made a quick trip to the grocery store while Cameron went into work for a few hours (his big project is finally done and I'm so proud of him!), then we went to the Kickin' Chicken in West Ashley to watch our games, which were on at the same time. Had lots of fun with Emily&David, Kate&Grant and Lindsay!

After our games were over (both victories), we hurried home to freshen up. What I really wanted to do was take a nap, but I knew I would be down for the count if I did. Met back up with everyone at a Mexican restaurant across from the coliseum and indulged in quite a few margarita's.
After that, it was to the coliseum we went to see Thompson Square, Justin Moore and Darius!

Sunday. Ouch. I layed in bed until as late as I possibly could. I had made plans for my Grandma to come over to measure my windows because she is making me some window treatments as part of my Christmas gift. I was smart and told her to come over after lunchtime because I knew I'd probably be hurting from the concert. And I was right. I made her this pumpkin pie as a thank you.

Cameron cleaned out the garage on Sunday and I would have taken before and after pics. What a difference!

Speaking of Cameron, he bought and installed a new hood over our stove last weekend and installed a subway tile backsplash! The man is handy and I love it.

Here is a (way before) before and after pic.
Gross.
Next up, a new flat-top stove!
Speaking of kitchens and cooking and pumpkin pies, I was in a baking mood last night and attempted to make this No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake. Everything was going great - I licked the bowl and it tasted so good - plopped it into the pie crust..and then realized I accidentally bought a regular pie crust and not a graham cracker pie crust. AND I forgot to bake the crust before I put the mixture in it. Ugh. So instead of a pumpkin cheesecake, Cameron had basically pumpkin mousse for dessert.

Ok, that's enough random babbling for one day. Have a good one!
