Sweet Tea & Stilettos

Today I've been asked to guest post for Hannah at Sweet Tea & Stilettos while she is away relaxing in the mountains with her hubby, Bryan! It's my first guest post ever so I was a little nervous when she asked me. I didn't know what to talk about!

Busy, busy, busy!

I can't even concentrate at work because I'm thinking of how messy my house is and how Jenny is coming to stay with me for the wedding this weekend starting tonight! Ahh!

Won't have time to clean it after work, unless I skip out early (which I probably will), because the Charleston blogger meet up is tonight at Social!

Then tomorrow, all of the wedding festivities start! Jenny (the other Jenny, the bride) has already dropped her pup, Presley, off at my house this morning for the weekend!

Hope to see you Charleston bloggers tonight! Have a great day and weekend!

PS - I finally signed up for Birchbox today and can't wait for my first shipment!

Loving.

The reveal of my bookcased turned bar! Will add more things to the top as they come, but I'm really happy with how it looks so far!

Jenny and Dan's wedding week is finally here! Festivities start Friday morning with a Bridal Luncheon at Husk (!!) and Rehearsal Dinner at High Cotton! I'm gonna be eatin' good this weekend. So excited to see my friends that are scattered throughout the state and country! And as always, I'm still debating on how to do my hair.
The Adams Family..but Jenny is way hotter than Morticia.
Next weekend Jana and Ashley are coming to visit and I am SO excited! I have a weekend full of fun and sun planned! :)

Loving the new clothing website I came across yesterday, Shopkempt.com.

Loving the pillow covers my mom helped me sew on Sunday! I used the easiest tutorial found here and plan on making lots more!

Tasty Tuesday - Skinny Cucumber Dip

My cucumbers have finally started to grow so I've been trying to think of ways to use them other than on my salad. Enter Skinny Cucumber Dip! The recipe is originally from Gina's Skinny Recipes and was used as a dressing, but Lacey from Viva LAS Lacey thickened it up and served as a dip!

1/2 cup lowfat buttermilk
1/4 cup light mayonnaise
1/4 cup fat free Greek yogurt
1 small cucumber, peeled and seeds removed
3 tbsp fresh parsley
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup chives or scallions
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
1/4 salt

Mix it all up in the blender!

She also ended up adding more mayo in to thicken the dip. Let it chill for awhile to further thicken it up-great with veggies and pita chips!

Our Trip to Charlotte!

Last weekend, (yes, I was that big of a slacker this past week) Cameron and I took a little road trip to Charlotte to celebrate his friend, David, getting married! I was really excited when I found out David & Ashley's wedding was going to be in Charlotte for two reasons: I would get to see Alyssa & Chris and hellllllo - IKEA!

We got in to Charlotte around 5:30pm, showered up at Alyssa & Chris', and headed to the rehearsal dinner at Mahlon Adams Pavilion at Freedom Park.
The grooms cake - it pains me to put those filthy animals on my blog, but it was the only picture I took that night.
Saturday both Alyssa and Chris had to work unfortunately so Cameron and I were on our own to tackle Ikea. We literally drove by the road Ikea was on 3 or 4 times. That's what I get for not updating my Garmin. Although it was both mine and Cameron's first trip to Ikea and it was a little overwhelming, I had previously made a list of things I wanted to buy, so it made it a little easier to concentrate.

The #1 most important item on the list:
The Expedit bookcase!
I wanted it because of this picture..

Which I turned into my own version and will show yall soon!
Other items we picked up were wine glasses for the bar, curtains for the guest bedroom, a pitcher, picture frames, and a comforter. Successful trip!
After Ikea, we went to a shopping center near Alyssa & Chris' house that was like a smaller version of Towne Center in Mt. P. We grabbed lunch at Brixx pizza and split a caesar salad and the Rustica pizza (prosciutto, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives and roasted garlic). After lunch, Cameron wanted to buy some new shoes to wear to the wedding so we headed to Banana Republic. They were having a big 40% off sale so he got the shoes and two button up shirts and I found some work pants for $14! Woo!

Ok, on to the wedding..
The ceremony was beautiful and reminded me of the church Caroline and Andy got married in. We were one of the first guests to arrive to the reception but once I saw who the band was, I knew it was going to be a fun night.
Sandy B and the Allstars!

First dance
Cameron and I with Louisa & Jeff who are getting married in March!
Me and my man. :)
There was also some quality entertainment on the dancefloor..

Hope yall have a great Monday! It's Jenny & Dan's wedding week!

Introducing Emilee Ryan.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Tasty Tuesday to bring you some EXCITING news!

Emilee Ryan W********* was born at 11:01pm on Friday, July 29, 2011. A little under a month early. She weighed 5.5 lbs and was 18" long.

(True story - I was also premature and weighed a little over 5.5 lbs. My booty was so little my parents had to put me in Cabbage Patch Kids diapers!)

Since Emilee was so early, she delveloped neonatal jaundice (thank you Wikipedia) and had to stay under the lights for her first couple of days.

I finally got to meet this sweet little nugget yesterday after work!

Proud Auntie Pickles

Congratulations to Leslie & Tyler!
