Busy Weekend.

Good Monday morning and Happy Veteran's Day!

Things have been quite busy around here, which explains the lack of posting. Let's get caught up, shall we?

Thursday after work, we took our annual girls' trip to the fair. We don't ride rides (well, except for the ferris wheel) or pet the animals in the petting zoo - we go to eat. And eat we did.

Corn dogs
Fiske fries
Fried mushrooms
Fried oreos
Fried twinkies
Red velvet funnel cake
Regular funnel cake

As a matter of fact.

Friday I had the day off, so what did I decide to do? Help set up for a wedding. Christmas is coming up, people! Any extra income is a good thing! The ceremony and reception were held at the Legare Waring House and my friend, Stephanie, was their planner. She owns her own company here in Charleston called SweetGrass Events.

Saturday, I had to work an oyster roast that my department threw for our property owners. It was held at Rhett's Bluff, which is where our property owners launch their boats. It turned out to be an awesome event with perfect weather. An event I was really proud to be involved in the planning process!

Sunday, we went to Baby Ashton's dedication at church, visited Cameron's grandmother, went grocery shopping, cleaned the house, then went to eat a yummy Fall inspired dinner at my parents' house! Butternut squash soup, brussel sprouts, potato gratin, pork tenderloin, and peach cobbler! SO good.

And my mom just texted me asking why I was so quiet at dinner last night. This is why, mom. :)

Slacker.

I'M NOT PREGNANT. Apparently in Bloglovin,' the picture is the pumpkins below of a FRIEND'S ANNOUNCEMENT. Just wanted to clarify that. #postfail

It's been a little quiet around here the past few days and for that, I apologize. Between my computer being messed up at work and wanting to go into hibernation now that the weather is cooling off, I haven't really been super inspired or motivated.
I'm not even going to bother with posting our dinner menu this week because I will only be cooking two nights...and last night's dinner wasn't even tasty enough to post about.

So let's talk about what's been going on lately..

Hmm..Cameron's cousin's wife welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world yesterday!

Our friends, Kate and Grant, announced that they are due with a little one in April.

April also announced that she also has a bun in the oven! When she ordered decaf coffee during our farmers market date, it didn't even cross my mind! And I am usually on top of those kinds of things.

Emily, Caroline, Katie and I are going on our annual fair trip on Thursday. Free admission tickets and free ride tickets = more money for fried food of all kinds!

Saturday night my sister and friend, Lyndsey, went to see Will Hoge at the Music Farm! Can't even remember how many times I've seen him but it was an awesome show, as always! He always stays after his shows to sign autographs and talk to his fans, which is pretty neat.

 That's all for now folks!

Finally a Fun Weekend!

I forgot what a fun-filled weekend felt like, but after this weekend, I remembered! It started off great when my event Friday night ended an hour early! I was home and in my pj's by 10:30pm and it was awesome.

Saturday morning I went to a baby shower for Cameron's cousin's wife, Sylvia. I got her the cutest fish monogram pillow for Ryan's nursery. Found at PB Kids.
Sylvia isn't wasn't due until December, but like clockwork after the shower, her water broke yesterday and Ryan, Jr. made his appearance!

After the shower I went home and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned the house before going to the fair since we were having people over that night.

Emily, Caroline, Katie and I went to the fair and DEVOURED all of the fried fatty goodness.
Seriously. Here is a list of everything we ate:
-Corn dog
-French fries with vinegar
-Fried cheese on a stick
-Fried pickles
-Fried mushrooms
-Red velvet funnel cake
-Pumpkin spice funnel cake
-Fried oreos

Then, we came back to my house, ate oysters and watched some football. What a perfect Saturday!

On Sunday, Cameron and I went to go visit our friends Alyssa, Chris and their baby, Owen, while they were in town visiting.

The rest of the day/evening was spent working on invitations! Can't believe there's only 2 months left before I send them out!!

----------
This week's dinner menu..

Monday - Chicken quesadillas, corn/avocado/tomato salad
Tuesday - Pot roast over rice
Thursday - Pork chops, cucumber/mustard/dill salad, cinnamon apples (never made them last week)
Friday - Chili over fritos

Da fair.

As our weekly date, Cameron and I decided to go to the Coastal Carolina Fair last night. Mainly we went because Corey Smith was playing. Cameron's parents volunteer at the fair so they hooked us up with free tickets, hand stamps for unlimited rides and a VIP parking spot. Nice!
After sitting in awful 5 o'clock traffic on the interstate, we finally arrived around 6:30pm. Corey Smith wasn't set to start playing until 7:30pm so we decided to grab our first meal of the night (corndogs) and ride some rides. Now, I've never had a problem riding the big roller coasters that flip you every which way at amusement parks like Carowinds, but flippy fair rides that can go up and be torn down in less than a day? No thanks.

And then this happened..
No "working our way up" from the small rides to the big scary ones. Cameron just walked up to this one and got in line. It all happened so fast I didn't have a chance to argue/pout/cry. This ride brings you all the way to the top (no idea how high and I don't care to know either) and then drops you, letting gravity take its toll. You can't scream because your stomach is basically in your throat. Other than thinking about how awesome my life has been and telling Cameron I love him before I was about to die, I couldn't stop thinking about my Reva's that I was wearing and how paranoid I was that they were going to fly off my feet at any second!! Great way to start the evening.

Now, you may think that after such a scary ride, we'd tone it down a notch, right? I thought we would, too. But you and I would both be wrong. My new rule was as long as it doesn't flip me upside down, I'd consider riding it.

And then this happened..

Ugh, why did I put myself through this? This one was scarier to me than the first one! This one slung you back and forth, this way, that way, every which way. Cameron was laughing at me the whole time. I was really convinced that the next time they flung us to the other side, we were just going to go sailing over the entire fair and crash and burn into one of the funnel cake stands. No more, I said.

And then this happened..

Some relaxing swings, right? No! Y'all, this even scared me once I got on it! I am becoming such a baby in my old age! I don't know if it's the heights or the fact that I'm not sure how safe these rides are, but never again will I be riding on anything other than the ferris wheel at the fair. But then again, I was paranoid last year on the ferris wheel that my hair was going to get stuck and my scalp would be ripped off. Sorry for the gross visual.

So I said, for reals, I'm done with the rides. Let's get our second meal and go grab a seat in front of the stage. And that's what we did. I got some fried pickles (duh) and he got some chicken tenders and fries. FYI - the fried pickles weren't that good. Sorry, no pics.

The only pic of the night is of the concert. I only knew a handful of Corey Smith songs so I couldn't sing along that much. He was entertaining though!

Fun night, all in all, with lots of laughs.

Have you been / are you going to the fair this year?
Are you a scaredy cat like me?
