Heaven Gained an Angel.

Cameron's grandmother went peacefully to Heaven on Saturday afternoon. I was so lucky to have known her for just 5 short years, and considered her to another grandmother to me. She will be remembered as optimistic, always having a smile on her face, and a fighter. She never once complained of her situation or being in pain.

Here are some photos to remember the good times.

Her 90th birthday party (where her grandchildren had to run out in the middle of the party to go buy more beer! For a 90th birthday party!!)
Shown below with her two children.

I love her smile in this picture.

Cameron and Rara (as he called her) on a cruise in 2011.

Rara and Bill, her husband of 10 years.
They got married when Cameron was in college. It was a home (football) game that day and none of his friends believed that he was really going home for his 80-something year old grandmother's wedding.
She was previously married to Cameron's grandfather for over 50 years, before he passed.

Our wedding day.
She did so well that day walking down the aisle!

Mother's Day 2013.
It is Rara and my Grandma Anna's (second from left) matching china that fills our china cabinet.

Celebrating her 93rd birthday!

You are so loved and missed, Rara.

Friday Five.

My apologies for all of the crickets chirping around here this week. I have had zero motivation to write a blog post and hardly any to even read any. What is up with that??

Let's see what's been making me happy lately..

{one}
Friends
Last Wednesday I had a pretty crappy day. I got some news that I wasn't expecting (not baby related, but you can probably figure it out), but my sweet friends and husband were there to cheer me up. It was much appreciated and definitely made me feel better.

Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Kit
I picked this up from Costco for our last supper club get together, and it was a hit! I wanted to make the raw brussel sprout salad, but the thought of slicing that many brussel sprouts made me tired. I remembered my friend Caroline telling me about this salad that had all kinds of chopped kale, brussel sprouts, etc with pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries in it, so off I went to track it down. Costco had a huge bag of it for like $5! I also believe you can find a regular size bag of it at Harris Teeter and Publix. Ingredients include broccoli, brussel sprouts, green cabbage, kale, chicory, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and poppyseed dressing.

Gardening
No, we still haven't gotten around to filling up our raised garden bed with top soil thanks to life getting in the way, but in the meantime, I planted some things in containers to get the ball rolling. Can't wait to be eating some fresh veggies straight from our backyard!

Our Anniversary Weekend
Like I said, I've been super slack around here this week. Promise a post is coming next week about our anniversary weekend in Hilton Head!

Fit + Flare.

There is something so feminine about a fit and flare skirt or dress.
I used to stay away from them, thinking I would definitely look like a cupcake if I were to wear one.
But a dress from J.Crew Factory changed my mind.
This one to be exact:
Looks simple enough, right?
I dressed it up with a gold skinny belt and received numerous compliments. The perfect dress to wear to work (not too short or revealing), and then out to happy hour with your girls (add fun accessories + switch those work wedges out for some stilettos).

Below are some inspiration photos that show you how you can achieve different looks with fit and flare!

And some of my favorite fit and flare picks that are available to purchase:
alice + olivia Fila Flare Box Pleat Dress // alice + olivia Perry Short Sleeve Flare Dress

Milly Graphic Jacquard Flare Dress // H&M Jersey Dress

Parker Naima Dress // alice + olivia Hilta Beaded Flare Dress

Steal vs. Splurge
H&M $29.95 vs. French Connection $98

H&M Circular Skirt

What do y'all think?
Are you into the fit and flare?

Weekend {80's Party, Baby Shower Supper Club + Birthday Celebration}

Although this weekend, we were constantly covered in pollen, we had great weather and pollen is just a sign that Spring is here!

This weekend, we encountered our first garden fail. In typical Megan fashion, I thought the landscape place closed at 2pm on Saturday..we pull up at 1:30pm with the trailer hooked up to the truck and the gates are closed. Sign says they close at 12pm. Woops.

So instead, my mom and I went on a hunt for 80's gear for a surprise birthday party that Cameron and I attended that night, while Cameron did yard work. Goodwill definitely came through for my outfit, but I was disappointed in their men's 80's attire. Come on, Goodwill, update your inventory already! {joking}

Here's what we wore:

It was a blast!

_______________

Sunday we had another jam-packed day.
First up was a supper club get-together to celebrate Baby Mac, who will be making an appearance next month! It was held at a beautiful home on Johns Island that is located on Bohicket Creek. The food, weather, and the company were all perfect.
They are not finding out the sex of the baby!

My love

Dallas was so cute when he was playing with Lane!

From Johns Island, we headed to Summerville (felt like Thanksgiving or Christmas all over again with all of the driving back and forth), to celebrate my Grandma's birthday!
See all of the pollen on the table? It had been wiped down probably only 2 hours prior to this picture.
My sister and I were on the same wavelength that day and bought the same card. You should have seen my face when Grandma Anna was reading the card out loud, knowing that it wasn't my card that she was reading.

We stuffed ourselves to the brim with salad, grilled chicken, cheesy potatoes, zucchini boats, and chocolate cake. Got home and watched two episodes of Breaking Bad, then it was off to dreamland.

Hope everyone has a great week!
I have a feeling mine is going to be very interesting...

Friday Five.

{one}
I bought Cameron and I the Couple's Q&A A Day book as a late Valentine's present and I (I think he, too) have been loving it! It's a 3 year journal that asks you a question each day. Both of you have a space to answer the questions that range from "when is the last time you had takeout" to "I feel protective of you when _____." It's something I look forward to each day because it brings up questions that we normally wouldn't ask each other, and I love reading his answers.
You can find the book here on Anthropologie, and also on Amazon and Ebay!

Charleston Fashion Week has been going on this week until tomorrow. I decided to volunteer this year for the first time and I had a blast Tuesday night! I acted as an usher, showing people where their seats were, and got to watch the whole runway show for free! Definitely something I will do again next year.

Wednesday night, the Art Institute of Charleston had their own runway show. My next door neighbor happens to be a student there and had two dresses in the show! (The first dress you see below is her's!) She had been working so hard on her designs and I was so, so proud of her!

Our garden is finally coming together!
We unloaded 1.5 tons (3,000 lbs) of compost into our raised garden beds last weekend, and this weekend we'll mix it with some topsoil. I ordered about 25 different seeds last week that should be arriving today. I will start some inside and go ahead and plant some outside. We're so excited to have fresh veggies, fruit, and herbs right in our backyards!

{five}
Our one year anniversary is next weekend!! That is so crazy to me!
We're taking a mini vacay to Hilton Head and I am so excited to get away for a few days!

Happy Friday everyone!
Hope you're all having beautiful weather like we are here in Charleston! :)
