Ta-Da! Part One.

Finished painting the laundry room last night! There are a few spots I need to touch up but all in all I am very happy with how it turned out!
Here is the room when Cameron first bought the house:

He ripped up the carpet and took those steps out. No clue what the purpose of the steps were, other than the fact that they opened up and could be used for storage.

Taping..

Two coats of Behr's Cotton Knit and it's done!

There are a few reasons I did not take a picture of the whole room:
-I didn't want you to see our pre-historic washer and dryer that were still in the middle of the room because I accidentally broke the hose to the washing machine. Oops.
-I didn't want you to see the floor which is basically concrete right now because Cameron ripped up the former floor..whatever it was..and we haven't replaced it yet.

Next up on the list:
-I'm going to make my own pendant light out of a Chinese paper lantern and coffee filters.
Similar to this, but smaller.

-New tile (Cameron job)
-Make my own curtains.
-Cabinets (Cameron job)
-Buy a small rug. Have to decide if I want to stick with a neutral color or add a pop of color.

Thank you, Michelle, for letting me copy your office! :)

One Day of Fun!

Saturday was the only day I had off this weekend to celebrate July 4th so I made the most of it!

Cameron and I woke up bright and early, picked Emily up, stopped by Publix and Bojangle's for beer and fried chicken (can't go on the boat without some fried chicken!) and met up with Eric & Amanda at the boat landing! Got on the boat around 10:30am and made our way out to Morris Island.

Usually, Morris is PACKED on weekends like this, but it actually turned out to be a very calm day.

Afterwards, we hung out by the pool at Cameron's parents' house then went and ate dinner at Zia. Picked up a movie on the way home, but we didn't even make it through the previews before we fell asleep! Successful day!

Tasty Tuesday - Ribs & Tomato Pie!

This is the perfect summertime meal!

The rib recipe is actually from my friend, Caroline, which her mother-in-law gave to her. She made them last time she hosted supper club and they were SO good so I knew I had to use her recipe.

Dry Rub

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup salt
2 Tbsp pepper
1 Tbsp garlic powder
2 tsp chili powder
2 dashes cayenne
2 dashes paprika

Preheat oven to 280*F.

Line baking sheets with non-stick foil. Cut the racks so that they fit on the sheets. Place the ribs on the sheets, and rub both sides with a generous amount of the dry rub. Store any leftover dry rub in an airtight container. Cover very tightly with foil.

Cook, undisturbed, for 4 hours. Uncover and slather on your favorite bbq sauce (I used Bull's Eye--Hickory Smoke). Put them back in the oven, uncovered, for about 10 minutes--just long enough for the sauce to heat up and adhere.

Tomato Pie

4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced (I only wound up using 3)
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 (9-inch) prebaked deep dish pie shell
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350*F.

Place the tomatoes in a colander in the sink in 1 layer. Sprinkle with salt and allow to drain for 10 minutes. (I also put on a paper towel after I drained and blotted as much water off as I could.)

Layer the tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Season with salt and pepper. Combine the grated cheeses and mayonnaise together. Spread mixture on top of the tomatoes and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
To serve, cut into slices and serve warm.

I also served with some fresh fruit salad.

ENJOY!

New Project: Laundry Room!

As I previously mentioned in this post, I've been planning on painting horizontal stripes in my laundry room to give it a little makeover. Now that Cameron is finished with his Masters degree (his second, btw. he puts me to shame!) I've begun to put him to work helping me out around the house!

Last night, Cameron measured and I taped! I got 3 out of the 4 walls complete and will finish tonight! Hopefully I'll get the first coat of paint on, too!
Yes, the stripes look uneven in this pic, but I promise they won't be afterwards! :)
Here's a picture of Michelle's office that I got the idea from. The colors will be very similar!

Loving!

First and foremost, Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mom!
You are the best Mom a girl could ask for and I love you!

Next up, I'm loving THE GAMECOCKS!!! They won the College World Series Championship for the SECOND year in a row last night! First team to go undefeated in the CWS since 2001! 6th team in CWS history to win back to back titles! Special thanks to Caroline and Andy for letting me come over both nights to watch the games!

Scott Wingo is a HOTTTTTTTTTTTTIE.

Loving Emily and I's lunch date with Biz on Monday to celebrate Biz's engagement!! So happy that she found someone that deserves an awesome girl like herself. We ate at Med Bistro and it was really good! I probably never would have thought to eat there if it wasn't for this lunch date, but I'm so glad she picked it!
Fried green tomato BLT with pimento cheese. Heaven!

Amazing hummus!

And as always, I love these two guys..

Have a great Wednesday!

How I Spent My Day Off Yesterday.

Woke up while Cameron was getting ready for work.

Back to sleep until 10.

Showered.

Met Emily at the fabric store.

Went downtown and ate at Midtown. Split the buffalo chicken sandwich with blue cheese coleslaw on top. YUM.

Popped into a consignment store and walked out with a pair of like-new J.Crew shorts for $17. SCORE! They're grey chino's with white polka dots. Love!

Discovered a new (new to me, but apparently it's been there over a year) clothing store downtown that is SUPER cute called Haute Hanger. Too bad I missed their Groupon deal last week. Emily did not miss it, however, and basically got a $40 credit to the store for free! She walked away with a super cute maxi dress for only $12 out of pocket!

Drove back to Emily's house where she taught me how to make my very first skirt! I immediately texted my mom demanding asking if I could borrow her sewing machine. Next up, a maxi dress! Then pillows!

Then after Cameron got home from work, we went on a booze cruise with his parents and a large group of their friends!

While on the boat, I was refreshing my phone every five seconds to update the score of the USC / Virginia baseball game. It turned out to be a 13 inning nailbiter and the Gamecocks coming away with the WIN! On to the Championship versus Florida! Bring it Gators!
The winning run! source
Went to bed a happy camper.

Ok, I Get It.

I finally caved and joined Pinterest on Tuesday to see what all the hype was about.
Now - I totally get it. I could literally spend all day on that dang website.

Other than the fact that there are a TON of great ideas, DIY's, recipes, pictures, etc, the main reason I love it is the fact that if I save it while I'm at work, I can still access it once I go home! I would save recipes to my favorites on my work computer and unless I remembered to print it out or email it to myself, I'd be screwed once I got home. Now I will never have this problem again!

A few finds so far..
