Leavin' On A Jet Plane!

We're off to the DC / Alexandria area this morning to celebrate Savannah & Dan tying the knot!

We'll be landing around noon so we plan on spending the day doing all of the tourist-y things like the Smithsonian, White House, Lincoln Memorial, etc.

For those of you who live or have visited Alexandria, any suggestions of a place to eat dinner tonight? We'll be staying at a hotel on King Street, so anywhere in that area would be ideal.

They're having a welcome party for the out-of-towners after the rehearsal dinner so we'll be able to hang out with everyone before the wedding!
Be back Sunday with lots of pics!

One more thing before I go - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEN!
Yippee! :)

  1. Y'all are going to have a great time! Old Town Alexandria is gorgeous and has a great night life. King Street (and just off King) is packed with restaurants and fun bars. Just head towards the waterfront on King Street and you will find plenty of places to choose from. There is a free trolley system in and around King Street, so getting to and fro will be easy. For D.C. today, I suggest you check out the International Spy Museum. It is not free like the Smithsonian, but it is too much fun to pass up.

  2. Have SUCH a good time while you're here! So many fun things to do! Old Town has some yummy restaurants: If you like sushi, there's a little hole in the wall place that is absolutely awesome called Ichiban. If you are looking for a more upscale seafood place there's The Chart House (with views of the water). La Tasca has good tapas and sangria.
    Hope that helps!

  3. You're going to have so much fun! I actually lived in Alexandria while I worked in DC, 10 years ago! Way too long ago to remember exact places to tell you. Old Town Alexandria has lots of wonderful places to eat. XO

  4. Safe travels! I wish I were familiar with the area, but I'm not. If you don't have it already, download the Yelp app -- it's an amazing way of searching for restaurants close to you (using GPS) and you can see the ratings it got from users.

  6. Also check out the Portrait Gallery if you have time- free and one of my faves! You'll love Old Town Alexandria- it reminds me a lot of Charleston! There's loads of seafood places and other great restuarants everywhere. Enjoy!
