Five Question FRIDAY!

Happy Friday, friends! I'm very surprised that the first week back to work after the holidays went by so quickly. I've had to be at work at 7am almost every day this week, which means I like to go to sleep pretttty early. I couldn't even make it through Grey's last night. Maybe that's why the week has gone by so fast?

Don't really have big plans for the weekend other than SURPRISE: working on the house. This weekend I plan on finishing painting the hall bathroom cabinets. I'm using Behr paint in Beluga. I'm hoping that the dark contrast will give the mostly light bathroom a little something extra. :)

Looks great in their kitchen! source

Cameron's task for the weekend is getting all of the kitchen cabinets put back up, now that they're (finally) finished being painted. We're having people over for dinner on Wednesday and I'm really stressing out about how un-finished the house is. There's only so much we can do / afford right now though so I'm trying not to let it stress me out toooo much.

On that note, for dinner on Wednesday there will be four couples. Cameron and I were thinking of doing something simple, like making four different types of pizzas (thank you old-skool double oven for coming in handy!) with a salad. For all you foodies out there, please email me your favorite pizza recipes! Next week also just so happens to be National Pizza Week! Thank you Hungry Girl daily emails for that little tidbit.

1. What is your current favorite book, and why?

I can't say I have one at the moment. I've been really bad about reading lately. Anyone want to suggest a good book to try??

2. Do you go to the dentist regularly?

I do, thanks to my momma being a dental hygienist! (After 27 years of her being one, I still can't remember how to spell it. Thank you spell check.) Every six months I make the trek to Summerville to get my pearly whites cleaned.

3. What is your worst memory from High School?

I had to think long and hard about this one. All in all I loved high school! I had great friends, was involved in cheerleading and soccer and I had a crappy lovely car!

I thought of two memories that I wish never happened.

(Mom, don't let Dad read this and if you do, tell him to grab a tissue first.)
The first one is when I found out my Aunt Sharlene had breast cancer. I can't remember what I wore to work yesterday, but I can remember memories like these very vividly. I believe it was my senior year. I walked into my parents bedroom before school one morning and my Dad was sitting on the edge of his bed, on the phone. He looked upset. I waited until he got off the phone to ask him what was going on and that's when he broke the news to me. I remember him crying, which of course always makes me cry, but I don't think I really knew exactly what cancer was and exactly what it meant for my aunt.

(Mom, don't be mad. :)  )
The second memory is of a night during my sophomore year I think. I think it was my sophomore year because I was driving, but I wasn't supposed to be driving at night. I told my parents I was staying the night at Jennie's house (which was the truth). After I got over there, we found out that everyone was going over to J.K.'s (who was infamous for having parties) house for a party. Was I allowed to leave Jennie's house and drive over there? No. Did I? Yes. And on the way there, Karma bit me in the butt.  I'm sad to say, I hit a dog. Now I am a dog LOVER, as if you can't already tell from my blog, so this DEVASTATED me. He came out of no where. I wasn't even speeding! Promise! I pulled my car over in shock and to find him/her. He/she was no where to be found. I kept/keep telling myself that since I couldn't find it, it probably was ok to run off back to its owner's house. Right?? We still went to J.K's party, our faces red and drenched from crying. I looked at the front of my car and on the corner, there was blood and hair. It makes me tear up just typing about it. Two friends at the party took my car to a near-by car wash and cleaned it up for me. I'm sure they don't even remember doing that, but I do, and it was much appreciated. I didn't tell my parents, but waited for them to notice the damage and of course acted as if I had no idea what happened. Sorry Mom & Dad!! Or did yall already know this??

Wow, that was a long answer.

4. What do you hope to be remembered for in your life?

I hope that people will remember me as being a good friend. And eventually, for being a good mom / wife.

5. Are you superstitious or do you have any superstitions?

I am somewhat. I kiss the clock when it says 11:11, 5:55, etc. I won't walk under a ladder. If a black cat runs in front of my car, I gasp. I used to think I had a lucky bikini when I went fishing. Turns out, it wasn't.

I will, however, step on cracks. And occasionally open an umbrella indoors.

  1. I'm not bad at that (and I didn't know about it before) because I know you did worse things...ha ha. I am sorry that you had to go through it because I know it was/is upsetting and I don't like it when my babies are upset. Love you!

  3. A quick and easy read for the new year is 365 Thank Yous. It was given to me as a gift. I read it on my flight from Nashville to Charleston and was finished during my first connection back. If that doesn't appeal to you, you can always grab one of Dot Frank's page-turners. I love Sullivans Island and Pawleys Island!
